Road Safety Innovation Fund

This grant fund has a long-term aim being to decrease harm and trauma related road crashes on Australian roads and create a safe and sustainable road transport system with zero deaths and serious injuries. It will provide grants to fund innovative research and the development of new or improved existing road safety technologies and products, to support the safe system approach.

The safe system approach takes into account human fallibility and aims to create a road transport system that makes allowance for human error and minimises the consequences of death and serious injury. The approach also encourages a better understanding of the interaction between the key elements of the road system of road users, roads and roadsides, vehicles and travel speeds.
