RDA Northern Inland are proud to promote and support the AGCAP Program.

Commencing in Year 10, the AGCAP program is an exciting initiative that gives rural and regional students a pathway to agricultural college and onto university. The pathway incorporates school, college and university, allowing students to gain industry endorsed qualification while spending a minimum amount of time away from their home town.

AGCAP has become the benchmark model for school, industry, tertiary and higher education partnerships in NSW. Developed through a unique collaboration between the Make it Work Foundation (Narrabri Chamber of Commerce), the Department of Education and State Training Services.

With the Northern Inland being home to a diversity of industry sectors, educational institutions and research and development organisations, it is an ideal initiative. The Distributed Campus model that underpins AGCAP, will link students with industry experts, researchers, academics and specialist teachers, providing them with the latest skills and knowledge required in this vibrant and increasingly high-tech industry.

The starting point for AGCAP dovetails into Year 9 and 10 agribusiness programs at school, taking in agricultural science and primary industries students in Years 11 and 12, flowing seamlessly to agricultural college and TAFE that will give students credit towards an undergraduate program when they enrol in university.

AGCAP is flexible, supporting both students and existing workers helping them to attain the skills and knowledge they need to move into new job roles. Institutional study and relevant work and life experience contribute towards AGCAP credentials at each stage of the pathway. Credentials are nationally recognised under the Australian qualifications framework.

The Distributed Campus capitalises on existing resources such as broadband and e-conferencing facilities. Tapping into networks across the region linking students to those industries where they live and learn is a key feature of AGCAP.
