The mission of the Hamer Family Sprout Fund is “to build communities inspired to take action for a sustainable future”.

Our aim is to support projects and organisations that:

• Promote innovation in environmental education
• Facilitate engagement in environmental action
• Advocate for environmental sustainability
• Foster collaboration between young people engaged in environmental leadership

A total of $25,000 is available for the Sprout Grants each year. Up to $5,000 is available per project, however more (up to $10,000) may be awarded in exceptional circumstances.

Groups or individuals may submit more than one application if they have a number of eligible projects. However, preference may be given to applicants that have not already been allocated a grant within the current funding round.

Skills Development Grants provide funding to volunteer museums, museum networks, and Aboriginal cultural spaces for regional or state focused skill development training and networking events involving more than one organisation.

There are no set categories for funding, and applications for a broad range of projects will be considered.

Skills Development Grants can be applied for at any time throughout the year, until the cut-off date of the 27 October 2024, or all funds are expended.

Skills Development Grant applications must be received by M&G NSW at least 6 weeks before the activity/event (e.g. conference, workshop, seminar) is scheduled to take place. Activities funded by 2024 Skills Development Grants must take place between March 2024 and January 2025. Acquittals are due two months after the activity.

The Volunteer Museum Grant Program provides assistance to volunteer-initiated community museums and Aboriginal cultural spaces (such as cultural centres and Keeping Places) with collections and displays in NSW.

Leg Up Grants are “quick response” grants for volunteers in volunteer managed museums and Aboriginal cultural spaces who require financial assistance to attend some form of skills development activity, or to bring such an activity into their museum.

To apply for a Leg Up Grant, an organisation must:

• Be incorporated (or provide the details of an auspicing body that is incorporated, such as a local council) OR provide evidence of appropriate alternative governance structures (eg. S355 Committee, Trust, Company limited by guarantee, Local government authority, etc.)
• Be not-for-profit
• Be an established museum, museum network (such as an AMaGA chapter), or Aboriginal cultural space, with a displayed collection (not an archive or historical society without a museum function)
• Be regularly open to the public (i.e. not open by appointment only)
• Have no more than the equivalent of two full-time paid positions
• Provide a written commitment to contribute 50% of the overall costs of the project, thereby matching the amount funded by the Leg Up Grant
• Agree to abide by the terms and conditions of the grant
• Not apply for a VM Grant if they have also applied for, or received, Create NSW funding for the same activity
• Ensure that the project meets all current NSW Health Covid Safe Guidelines.

From February 2024, eligible parents, guardians and carers of school-aged children can apply for a new voucher. This program to support eligible families with school-aged children to participate in sport, recreational, creative or cultural activities with registered providers.

The voucher is valued at $50 and:

• will be available twice a year, starting from February 2024
• can be used for eligible active or creative activities with registered providers
• must be redeemed before the expiry date on the voucher.

You will be able to apply for a voucher if:

• your child is a NSW resident and aged between 4.5 and 18 years old
• you receive:
  • Family Tax Benefit Part A
  • Family Tax Benefit Part B
  • Both Family Tax Benefit Part A and Family Tax Benefit Part B.

Rural GPs providing unsupervised anaesthetics, obstetrics, surgery and/or emergency medicine may be eligible for the Rural Procedural Grants Program (RPGP) to help maintain and update your skills.

The Rural Procedural Grants Program (RPGP) provides financial assistance to GPs who provide procedural and/or emergency medicine services in unsupervised settings in rural and remote areas. This government funding supports GPs with access to relevant educational activities to maintain or update their procedural and/or emergency medicine skills.

Procedural GPs can receive up to $20,000 per financial year, and GPs providing hospital-based emergency services can receive up to $6000 per financial year. Additional funding of $6000 per financial year is available for eligible GPs providing emergency mental health services.

Public Lending Right (PLR) and Educational Lending Right (ELR) are Australian Government programs that compensate Australian creators and publishers in recognition of income lost through free multiple use of their books in public and educational lending libraries. These programs support the enrichment of Australian culture by encouraging the growth and development of Australian writing.

A creator or a publisher must register and submit title claims within five years from the year of publication. Books are surveyed in a sample of either public lending libraries (PLR) or school, TAFE and university libraries (ELR).

Eligible creators are:

• authors, editors, illustrators, translators and compilers
• Australian citizens, wherever they reside, or non-citizens who normally reside in Australia (eligibility ceases if residency in Australia ceases)
• those who receive on-going royalties from the sale of their book.

Eligible publishers are:

• companies whose business consists wholly or substantially of the publication of books and who regularly publish in Australia—'regularly publish' is defined as at least once in the preceding three year period
• non-profit organisations that publish to further their aims or objectives
• self-publishing creators.

Supports the protection or repairs to gazetted Aboriginal Places, items listed on the State Heritage Register, or items with a current Interim Heritage Order that have been damaged by unexpected events (such as an extreme storm or accident) and where your insurance does not cover this cost.

No matched funding is required, and each listed item can only receive funding once for each unexpected event. Funding is available on an ongoing basis;however limited funding is available each financial year.

This grant opportunity seeks to ensure that all Australian’s living with cancer have access to high-quality and culturally safe support throughout their cancer experience. Acknowledging the existing national cancer screening programs and funding provided for more commonly diagnosed cancers, this grant opportunity will prioritise activities that focus on increasing equity across tumour types and/or priority populations. 

The Cancer Patient Support Program (the Program) will support, one-off, time-limited activities that provide national leadership on emerging priorities across the cancer control continuum. 

Assessment and notification of outcomes will be divided into three Submission Periods during the life of this Program. Each Submission Period will include assessment of applications that have been submitted to the grant opportunity over the preceding Submission Period. 

• Submission Period 1 will contain all applications submitted to the grant opportunity between the opening date and 2:00pm AEST on 14 May 2024.
• Submission Period 2 will contain all applications submitted to the grant opportunity between 2:01pm AEST on 14 May 2024 and 2:00pm AEST on 18 September 2024.
• Submission Period 3 will contain all applications submitted to the grant opportunity between 2:01pm AEST on 18 September 2024 and 2:00pm AEST on 1 August 2025. 

To be eligible you must be one of the following:

• Indigenous Corporation (registered under the Corporations (Aboriginal and /or Torres Strait Islander) Act 2006)
• a registered charity or not-for-profit organisation
• Cancer advocacy groups
• Community Organisations
• Company
• Cooperative
• Incorporated Association
• Statutory Entity, or
• Partnership.

To be eligible, your grant activity must be for a project that will provide improved outcomes for Australian’s living with cancer. Your activity should:

• provide access to high-quality and culturally safe resources and/or care throughout the cancer experience, where applicable;
• be supported by evidence to align with a priority population group and/or increasing equity across tumour types;
• align with the strategic objectives as identified in the Australia Cancer Plan and/or the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cancer Plan; and
• demonstrate national applicability.

The Regional Australia Microgrid Pilots Program (the Program) aims to support pilot projects for microgrids in Regional Australia that:

• Have demonstrated Project viability through a Feasibility Study.
• Include the deployment of equipment and technology solutions that enable the coordinated use of distributed renewable energy technologies and the microgrid demonstration.
• Demonstrate improved resilience and reliability of microgrids in regional areas; and
• Demonstrate capability of resolving one or more of the remaining barriers to final investment and full deployment of microgrid solutions.

For the purposes of the Program the term microgrid is used to include the following technical configurations:

• Embedded Microgrid: An electricity supply arrangement that coordinates and optimises the use of connected, locationally proximate distributed energy resources (DER) to provide secure and reliable electricity within the microgrid and is able to provide value to the major grid. This could include energy market participation, provision of system flexibility, systems services and deferral of network investment.
• Standalone Power Systems (SAPS): An electricity supply arrangement that can demonstrate temporary or permanent operation when not physically connected to a major grid. SAPS encompasses supply to single and multiple customers. Where:
  • customers, currently connected to a major grid, can move to a SAPS, or
  • a SAPS is installed rather than a new grid connection.
• Remote Isolated Microgrid: An electricity supply arrangement that already operates as an isolated SAPS and will continue to do so. These systems are often in very remote locations and managed by State Government owned corporations.

Under the Indigenous Advancement Strategy, the National Indigenous Australians Agency considers grant proposals that address a need for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Proposals should be developed with the target community or group who will be impacted by the activity.

This funding approach can be used to present a proposal to the Agency where a need has been identified in the community and there are no other current funding avenues available. You must discuss your proposal with the Agency. The Agency may then invite you to submit an application.

Applicants can apply for funding for activities for up to 12 months or over multiple years. There is no maximum grant amount available to applicants. The Agency will consider value with relevant money and availability of funds to meet priorities in offering a grant amount.

Reopening of the Bin Trim Equipment Rebates Program for eligible NSW businesses, councils, and organisations. $6 million has been allocated to continue the initiative for three years until 30 June 2027, or until all funding is used.

Rebates up to $50,000 are being offered to cover up to 50% of the cost of small-scale, on-site equipment or technology that avoids, reduces, reuses, or recycles waste. The initiative is aimed at supporting businesses to transition to a circular economy.

Some examples of equipment and technologies that may be funded include but are not limited to:

• balers
• briquette presses
• bulk bag stands and bulk bags
• cardboard perforator
• commercial worm farms
• compactors
• glass crushers
• granulators
• organics rapid decomposition units (where output is sent to a licenced composting facility)
• plastic injection moulders
• shredders
• smart scales and other food waste monitoring equipment
• source separation bins, wheelie bins, skip bins and other bin equipment – with bin signs and stickers
• trolleys to transport waste and maximise waste separation and diversion.

Businesses applying for the Rebates Program must:

• have a commercial and industrial (C&I) waste service at a site in NSW
• have a valid ABN and employ one or more full time employees in NSW, and
• send C&I waste to landfill in NSW.

Businesses can include entities that are registered charities, not-for-profits, public entities (including schools and hospitals), and government organisations.

The NSW Environment Protection Authority (EPA) is working to reduce good quality food suitable for human consumption from being disposed to landfill. The Food Rescue Rebates are available to expand food rescue and relief capacity to safely manage increasing amounts of rescued food in NSW. The rebates are part of a suite of organics programs available to support NSW to halve organics waste to landfill by 2030.

The objectives of this rebate program are to:

• increase the diversion (i.e. rescue) of quality food suitable for human consumption from landfill
• support NSW food rescue and relief organisations to expand their capacity to manage increasing amounts of rescued food to provide to the community
• provide a simplified funding alternative for small food rescue and relief projects.

Eligible applicants can submit an application for funding up to $2,000 (inc. GST) per financial year, per eligible address. 

Every day across the country IGA Community Chest raises funds to support local communities, charities and other worthwhile causes. It could be in response to a major event like floods or bush fires or something as simple as new soccer balls for the local under 8’s.

ACF is committed to helping build healthy and resilient communities. To achieve this, ACF supports a range of charitable organisations and projects each year. Grants are made domestically and internationally through Australian registered charitable organisations for specific projects, or for purposes that support the ongoing activities of those organisations.

With over 250 sub-funds, ACF provides over 500 grants annually that broadly fall into the following categories: arts and culture, community development and advocacy, community services and welfare, disability, training and employment, environment, health and medical research, education and overseas aid and development. Within these categories, target groups are also supported, including Indigenous communities and refugee/asylum seekers.

ACF also administers a number of specific scholarships and awards to promote educational achievement.

Each year through ClubGRANTS, clubs across NSW provide support to tens of thousands of local community organisations, sporting groups, and charities that make a difference in their local area. With more than $1 billion in funding provided since the program’s inception, including a record $100 million in 2014, ClubGRANTS is without doubt one of the largest and most effective grants programs in Australia.

All funding is processed locally and community groups can contact their local clubs easily and at any time for information and advice. ClubGRANTS is also flexible, allowing clubs to provide support quickly, efficiently, and often as soon as a need emerges.

To be eligible to apply, you must be a not-for-profit organisation and provide the following project and/or services: community welfare or social services, community development, community health services or employment assistance activities. You are also eligible if you or your organisation is involved in community or professional sport.

Category 1 funding is allocated on the basis of local government areas, and Local Committees set their own deadlines, which vary from area to area. Opening and closing dates are available on Committee Search listings.

Clubs allocate Category 2 funding and while some clubs set deadlines, most accept and consider Category 2 applications year-round. Category 2 applicants should contact the individual clubs for more information.
