The Elsa Dixon Aboriginal Employment Grant (EDAEG) adopts a number of strategies to develop and support Aboriginal people through the creation of training and employment opportunities. Promoting diversity, innovation and service responsiveness in the NSW workforce, the Elsa Dixon Aboriginal Employment Grant subsidises the salary, development and support costs of Aboriginal employees in public service agencies and local government authorities.

The EDAEG comprises three (3) elements

  • Permanent Employment – $30,000 up to $40,000 (dependant on level of position) to support permanent employment.
  • Temporary Secondment – $20,000 up to $40,000 (dependant on level of position) to support a temporary position of up to 12 months that offers significant skill development for a permanent employee.
  • School-based Apprenticeships and Traineeships – $10,000 one off payment to support school-based apprenticeships and traineeships.

Organisations applying for funding under the EDAEG must be registered, based in NSW and provide services within the State.

To be eligible, organisations must be a:

  • NSW public service agency; or
  • NSW local government authority operating under the Local Government Act 1993.

Jobs Plus Program Grant Opened: 15th of December 2020 Closes: 30th of June 2022 Value: Payroll Tax releif for up to four years and support Run By: NSW Government Further Information: https://business.gov.au/grants-and-programs/Jobs-Plus-Program-NSW

The Jobs Plus Program will support companies who want to relocate their head offices to NSW, or expand their jobs footprint in NSW.

Under the Jobs Plus Program, the NSW Government will provide support to businesses if they create at least 30 new net jobs. Support will include:

  • payroll tax relief, up to a four-year period, for every new job created where a business has created at least 30 new net jobs
  • assistance with the NSW planning system, including fast-tracked planning approval pathways and advice, plus guidance on appropriate site selection to increase speed to market
  • partnering to develop subsidised training programs in order to build specialised skills aimed at sustaining these new jobs into the future. This includes funding to develop and deliver bespoke skills programs which can be accessed by the wider NSW community
  • providing enabling infrastructure such as building local roads, access to utilities and future-proofed digital infrastructure
  • access to a one-stop-shop Jobs Plus Concierge Service in government to help businesses efficiently navigate and access government agencies and programs
  • access to free or subsidised government spaces and accommodation.

If you are a sole trader, the owner of a small business or a not-for-profit organisation in NSW, you may be eligible for a small business fees and charges rebate of $1500.

The Small Business Fees and Charges Rebate is open to small businesses which have a total wages bill below the new 2020-21 $1.2 million payroll tax threshold and have a turnover of at least $75,000 per year.

It is available from 1 April 2021 until 30 June 2022, for eligible fees and charges due and paid from 1 March 2021.


Fees and charges that can be claimed back through the scheme include, but not limited to, liquor licences, food authority licences, tradesperson licences, event fees, council rates and outdoor seating fees.

  • grow Australian industry’s capability and capacity to support NASA’s endeavour to go forward to the Moon and then on to Mars
  • grow the participation of Australian companies in domestic and/or international space supply chains that could support Moon to Mars activities
  • grow the skills, capabilities and capacity of the Australian space industry.

The Export Market Development Grants (EMDG) scheme is a key Australian Government financial assistance program for small to medium aspiring and growing export-ready businesses. It encourages businesses to increase international marketing and promotion expenditure.

Eligible exporters are reimbursed up to 50 per cent of eligible export promotion expenses above $5,000, up to a maximum of $150,000 (subject to available funds), provided total eligible expenses incurred amount to at least $15,000.

Innovation Connections assists businesses to understand their research needs, connect with the research sector and fund collaborative research projects.

The Innovation Connections Facilitation service is free and includes access to a highly skilled facilitator. At the completion of your Innovation Connections Facilitation, and at the recommendation of your facilitator, you may subsequently apply for an Innovation Connections Grant.

An Innovation Facilitator will work with your business to understand your research needs. This might include:

  • discussing strategic research opportunities into new or existing markets
  • identifying critical research areas for improving your products, processes and services
  • finding ways for your business to work with the research sector (i.e. CSIRO, universities and other publicly funded research organisations).

At the end of the engagement, you will be provided with an Innovation Facilitation Report that outlines your business’ research needs and opportunities. If a collaborative research project is recommended, the facilitator will connect your business to expertise within the research sector and help to define a project scope. You will then be able to apply for an Innovation Connections Grant to co-fund the project.

Australian Government's Youth Jobs PaTH Grant Closes: Ongoing Value: Up to $11,000 Run By: Australian Government Job Active Further Information: https://jobactive.gov.au/path

Trial a young person to find out if they're the right fit for your business and get $1000 to help cover the costs of the trial. During the trial, you don't pay the young person. Instead, the Australian Government gives them $200 a fortnight on top of their income support and covers their insurance.

Businesses can also receive up to $10,000 (GST inclusive) through a Youth Bonus wage subsidy if they hire an eligible young person between 15 and 24 years of age.

The young person must:

  • be a fully eligible participant, commenced with a jobactive or Transition to Work provider
  • have received employment services from a provider (jobactive, Transition to Work, Disability Employment Services or Community Development Programme provider) continuously for the last six months
  • have mutual obligation requirements at the time they commence in the wage subsidised job
  • not been in a pre-existing employment relation with you in the previous six months
  • not be an immediate family member.

Restart is a financial incentive of up to $10,000 (GST inclusive) to encourage businesses to hire and retain mature age employees who are 50 years of age and over.

Payments are made by employment services providers to businesses over six months. Employers can negotiate how often they receive the payments. Employers may also be able to receive a kickstart payment of up to 40 per cent of the total amount after four weeks of the job starting.
