Welcome to our Community Funding Opportunities and Awards Program Newsletter where you will find details of grant and funding programs that are available for the Northern Inland Region for community based projects and social enterprises.

Featured Grants

Before and After School Care Infrastructure Fund

The NSW Government is investing $120 million into expanding before and after school care to make places available to all parents with children at government primary schools that need it by 2021. A key element is the Before and After School Care Infrastructure Fund to help schools buy new equipment and expand their facilities.

Applications are now open for schools and providers of before and after school care (Out of School Hours Care) that are ready to deliver new services or expand existing services. This is about providing support for parents with children at government schools which means that providers and services approved to support government schools, as well as the schools themselves, may apply for grants of up to $30,000 through this application.

If your proposal will result in more services or more places for government primary school children, but requires more than $30,000 financial assistance, please contact the department at BASCReform@det.nsw.edu.au for more information.

Economic and Community Participation (ECP) Program

Run By: National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA)

The Australian Government is inviting applications via an open competitive process to apply to deliver ILC activities under Outcome 1.2 – Community Inclusion and Capacity Development Grants nationally for up to three years from 2019-20. The ECP Program aims to build the capacity of the community to create opportunities for people with disability to contribute to community prosperity and participate in community life.

The objective of this ECP grant round is to improve the economic and community participation of people with disability across Australia. This grant round aims to fund projects which provide a catalyst for increasing access and inclusion in economic and community participation for people with disability across Australia. There are two streams under the ECP Program within this grant round.

Economic Participation stream - Sector based initiatives to create pathways to employment and drive inclusive practices for people with disability to contribute to Australia’s economic prosperity

Social and Community Participation stream - Inclusive practices to create opportunities for people with disability to participate in community life, with a focus on arts, culture, sport and recreation.

The specific outcomes for the ECP Program include:

  • People with disability participate in and benefit from the same community activities as everyone else.
  • People with disability actively contribute to leading, shaping and influencing their community.

Festivals Australia
Closes: 18th of October 2019 5:00 pm

Festivals Australia will offer funding to support individual art projects that allow community members living in regional or remote Australia to participate in or appreciate an arts driven experience at:

  • a festival – which is defined by Festivals Australia as a regularly presented program of events (for example annually or biennially) that is open to the public and provides an opportunity to gather and celebrate.
  • a significant one-off community celebration – which is defined by Festivals Australia as a schedule of events that is open to the public and is focused on an anniversary or launch of great significance to the community. For example, a town or area’s centenary celebrations, a significant anniversary of a major local event or the opening of a major new community resource could be the basis for an eligible significant one-off community celebration.

Festivals Australia delivers two open competitive funding rounds opening in February and September each year.

The Science Awards encourage young scientists, researchers, innovators and others active in the agriculture sector who have an original and innovative project that will contribute to the ongoing success and sustainability of Australia’s agriculture, fisheries and forestry industries.

NSW Women of the Year Awards

The NSW Women of the Year Awards recognise and celebrate the outstanding contribution made by women across NSW to industry, communities and society.

Clunies Ross Awards

The Clunies Ross Awards have a proud 28-year tradition of recognising contributions by dedicated individuals who have shared their vision and knowledge with others to apply technology for the benefit of Australia.

Rural Women's Award

Acknowledges and supports the essential role women play in rural industries, businesses and communities. The Award provides a platform to inspire and support Australian women to use and develop their skills to benefit their industries and communities.

Local Sporting Champions (LSC) Program

The Local Sporting Champions program provides financial assistance for coaches, officials and competitors aged 12-18 participating in state, national or international championships.

Aboriginal Land Clean Up and Prevention Program
Closing date: 30th of September 2019 or until the $1 Million pool is expended

Run By: NSW Environmental Protection Agency
This funding aims to assist Local Land Councils to deal with illegally dumped waste which impacts on Aboriginal people’s ability to care for Country.

The Harcourts Foundation

As the foundation's purpose is “To provide support that helps, grows, and enriches our communities”, they have a clear focus on providing grants to reputable community-based charitable organisations which need funding for projects and initiatives designed to benefit as many people as possible.

The Mazda Foundation

Projects by community based organisations to support children with physical and/or mental disabilities and elderly people suggering mental disabilities or their carers, particularly projects seeking to address social isolation experienced by such children and their carers.

Sisters of Charity Community Grants Program

The Sisters of Charity Foundation provides charity grants of up to $10,000 to organisations that use clever ways to fight poverty, loneliness, suffering and oppression, but struggle to find funding.

Jetstar Flying Start Programme

Jetstar's Flying Start Program invites community groups and organisations across Australia to apply for a grant to fund a project that will enrich the lives of people in their local community.

Local Schools Community Fund

The Fund will benefit students and assist schools to meet their priorities through the contribution of funding for small scale projects and their associated costs.

ILC Individual Capacity Building (ICB) Program

The aim of the ICB Program is to provide people with disability the skills and confidence to participate and contribute to the community and protect their rights.

Supporting Younger Veterans program

Aims to foster the ability of organisations to support younger veterans as they transition out of the ADF, establish themselves into civilian life, and manage the challenges their ADF service presents through different stages of their civilian life.

Commonwealth Home Support Programme - Growth Funding

Funding to expand entry-level aged care services for senior Australians through targeted growth funding to meet demonstrated need in accordance with the objectives of CHSP.

Community-led Projects to Prevent Violence against Women and their Children

Economic and Community Participation (ECP) Program

The ECP Program aims to build the capacity of the community to create opportunities for people with disability to contribute to community prosperity and participate in community life.

Mainstream Capacity Building (MCB)

Aims to fund activities that will enable people with disability to use and benefit from the same mainstream health services as everyone else and provide improved access and utilisation of mainstream health services where mainstream supports available.

Before and After School Care Infrastructure Fund

National Science Week Grants

Provides funding for activities during National Science Week, Australia’s major national celebration of the sciences to be held 15-23 August 2020.

Recreational Fishing Trusts

All money raised by the NSW Recreational Fishing Fee is placed into the Recreational Fishing Trusts and spent on improving recreational fishing in NSW.

Aims to facilitate the participation, integration and social cohesion of both newly arrived migrants and culturally diverse communities in Australia

Be Connected - Activation Grants

One-off grants awarded to new organisations joining the Be Connected Network. Funding can be spent on anything that will help you support older Australians to gain digital skills.

Veteran and Community Grants

The objective of the program is to maintain and improve the independence and quality of life for members of the Australian veteran community by providing funding for projects that sustain or enhance health and wellbeing.

Be Connected - Building Digital Skills

Value: $2,500 to $15,000 depending on number of people supported

Additional funding is available for Be Connected Network Partners who are supporting 24 or more older Australians to gain digital skills on the Be Connected Learning Portal (12 people if you’re in an outer regional, remote or very remote area) to continue delivering their Be Connected digital literacy programs.

Empowers nonprofit organisations, through $10,000 per month in in-kind AdWords™ advertising, to promote their missions and initiatives on Google search result pages.

Quick Response Grants

Offers funding for regional artists, arts organisations and communities to respond to unique arts opportunities that present themselves at very short notice.

National Cultural Heritage Account

Helps Australian public cultural organisations buy significant objects that they could not otherwise afford. Australian cultural institutions can apply for funding. Saluting Their Service Commemorative Grants Program

Run By: Department of Vetrans Affairs
Designed to preserve Australia’s wartime heritage and to involve people throughout the nation in a wide range of projects and activities that highlight the service and sacrifice of Australia’s servicemen and women in wars, conflicts and peace operations, and promote appreciation and understanding of the role that those who served have played in shaping the nation.
