The National Action Plan to Combat Modern Slavery 2020 to 2025 Grant Program Round 2 will run over 2 financial years from 2023–24 to 2024–25. The Australian Government has invested $4.4 million (GST exclusive) in the National Action Plan to Combat Modern Slavery 2020 to 2025 Grant Program (the program) to deliver multi-year grant funding for civil society, business and industry groups, and academia to:

  • combat modern slavery in Australia
  • increase the capacity of businesses to respond to modern slavery in global supply chains
  • support new research to inform evidence-based policy responses to address modern slavery in Australia.

The Australian Government is committed to working in close partnership with international partners, civil society, business, unions and academia to ensure a coordinated response to modern slavery in Australia.

This grant opportunity aims to support and fund work to actively prevent and combat all forms of modern slavery in Australia. In Australia, modern slavery refers to a range of serious exploitative practices, including trafficking in persons, slavery, slavery-like practices (such as forced marriage, forced labour, servitude, and debt bondage), and the worst forms of child labour. While each of these practices are distinct, they all involve the manipulation of complex relationships between an offender and a victim, and undermine a victim’s personal freedom and ability to make choices for themselves.

The objective of this grant opportunity is to deliver community-based projects that advance the National Action Plan’s 5 Strategic Priorities and contribute to achieving its key outcomes.

Funding for this grant opportunity will be provided under 2 streams; Stream 1 – Combating Modern Slavery and Stream 2 – Research.
