Critical Support for Multicultural Communities - Independent Multicultural Media - Transformation and Sustainability

The Australian Government is inviting organisations through an open competitive process to apply to deliver services under the Multicultural Affairs and Citizenship Program over 12 months from 2025–2026.

The Critical Support for Multicultural Communities - Independent Multicultural Media – transformation and sustainability grant opportunity provides total funding of $10.0 million (GST exclusive) with funding allocated based on organisation size. The maximum funding amount for consortia will be based on the total combined number of employees within the consortium.

The objectives of the grant opportunity are to:

  • build capacity to help strengthen and increase resilience of Australia’s independent multicultural media outlets
  • support activities and projects that increase the sustainability of Australia’s independent multicultural media outlets to continue delivering media content
  • assist with the delivery of media content that facilitates constructive collaboration, builds trust and strengthens social cohesion, while increasing tolerance and understanding between individuals and groups in Australia.

The intended outcomes of the grant opportunity are for Australian independent multicultural media outlets to:

  • increase capacity to operate and deliver multicultural media to their communities
  • transition to sustainable new media and business practices to enhance survival and longevity
  • create new and improved independent multicultural media offerings across Australia, including digital and online.

To be eligible, you must have an:

  • Australian Business Number (ABN)
  • account with an Australian financial institution

and be one of the following entity types:

  • Company
  • Cooperative
  • Incorporated Association
  • Sole Trader
  • Statutory Entity.

If you are applying as a Trustee on behalf of a Trust , the Trustee must be one of the eligible entity types as listed above.
