Aboriginal Languages Sector Development Program 2025

The Aboriginal Languages Sector Development Program seeks to support Aboriginal Language Organisations based in NSW:

• strengthen and grow the NSW Aboriginal Languages Sector,
• create new jobs and secure employment for Aboriginal Language workers,
• stabilise Aboriginal Language Centre operations, and
• reclaim and revitalise Aboriginal Languages in NSW.

The Aboriginal Languages Sector Development Program will deliver value for money at both the Program and individual grant level by contributing to NSW Government’s priorities and outcomes for Aboriginal Languages, including those under Target 16 of the NSW Agreement on Closing the Gap and the NSW International Decade of Indigenous Languages 2022-2032.

Who can apply

Organisations that meet the following criteria are eligible to apply

• 51% or more Aboriginal Owned and Controlled Charity (ACNC registered)
• 51% or more Aboriginal Owned and Controlled Not-For-Profit organisation that commits to applying for ACNC registration before Funding Agreement 
• NSW Local Aboriginal Land Council (LALC) under the Aboriginal Land Rights Act 1983 (NSW).
• Aboriginal Corporation registered under the Corporations (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander) Act 2006 (Cth).
