Getting down to business with the NBN in Moree

Regional Development Australia – Northern Inland (RDANI) would like to extend an invitation to small and medium businesses as well as residents to attend a free information session on the NBN in Moree. Entitled ‘How the NBN will change the region and Australia’, the timely event will outline in simple, practical terms, what the National Broadband Network will mean to local businesses and residents.

The NBN workshop will take place on Wednesday, 23rd November from 7.45am – 9.30am at the Moree Services Club with a light breakfast included. The information session will be presented by Alun Davies, NBN Project Coordinator for RDANI and a member of the Regional Telecommunications Review Committee. It is a joint initiative, with support and funding from RDANI, NSW Trade & Investment and the Moree & District Chamber of Commerce & Industry.

The Industry Capability Network’s (ICN) Northern Region Manager for NSW will also be on hand to answer questions from local contractors interested in being involved in the construction of the National Broadband Network. ICN is partnering with NBN Co and their prime contractors to maximise local participation in the completion of the construction of the National Broadband Network.

Executive Officer of Regional Development Australia Northern Inland, Nathan Axelsson, explained why the NBN Information Session for local business operators was organised. “We identified a need to connect with small and medium businesses and tell them what the NBN will mean to them, in terms of the opportunities and benefits for their business.”

“There is a lack of understanding in the community about what the NBN will mean for small and medium sized businesses as well as applications at home. There’s been a lot of information about what the NBN will mean for health, education and research purposes but not necessarily on how the NBN will assist everyday businesses in our community to expand, find new markets or simply increase efficiencies,” Mr Axelsson said.

Anyone wishing to attend this free information session is required to register by 5pm Friday 18th November, by contacting Rebecca Wright (RDANI) by phone on 6771 2790 or email rdani@rdani.org.au
