Helping Regional Communities Prepare for Drought Initiative – Small Networks Grants

Small Network Grants are now available to community organisations in regional and rural Australia to develop and deliver one-off events or initiatives to strengthen community networks and capabilities that build drought preparedness.

Through this initiative, with the support of the Australian Government, we are investing in the future by enabling agriculture-dependent communities to identify and act on their drought preparedness priorities at a grassroots level and in ways that best suit their communities.

The Small Networks Grants will fund networks, community events, training initiatives, community infrastructure, development and learning initiatives that assist local people and communities to strengthen social capital and capability to prepare for future droughts.

 

Youth Holiday Break Program - Summer/Autumn 2023-24

The Holiday Break program provides young people in regional NSW opportunities to connect, socialise, learn new skills, and have fun at free activities, including sport and recreation camps, creative activities, and more during the school holidays.

Holiday Break Summer/Autumn 2023/24 and Winter/Spring 2024 is delivered in a new streamlined half yearly model. These changes allow applicants to plan ahead for their school holiday activities and promote their activities to communities well in advance.

Funding of up to $15,000 for Summer 2023/24 and $7,000 for Autumn 2024 is available for 93 regional councils and other organisations to cover the cost of running youth events over the respective Summer and Autumn school holidays.

 

Local Sport Grant Program - 2023-24

The Local Sport Grant Program aims to increase regular and on-going participation opportunities in sport in NSW. Through this Program the Office of Sport is working towards their goals to achieve:

• Participation: Everyone in NSW participating in sport and active recreation throughout their life.
• Places and Spaces: Everyone in NSW having access to places and spaces for sport and active recreation.
• Sustainability: The sector continues to grow sport and active recreation across NSW.

The Local Sport Grant Program aims to support grassroots sporting clubs to increase participation, host events, improve access and enhance sport and recreation facilities. Up to $4.65 million is available in 2023/24 to support sporting clubs and associations across NSW with $50,000 available in each electorate and grants of up to $20,000 available for individual projects.

 

Level the Playing Field Program

The NSW Government has committed up to $30 million to the Level the Playing Field Program (the Program). The Program investment will revive sport facilities by providing new or upgrading existing sport facilities, amenities and sporting fields. Funding will also support the provision of new and upgraded lighting that will enable more women and girls to train and compete in sport in a safe and inclusive environment.

The primary objectives of the Program are to:

• Ensure women and girls have equitable access to sport and recreation facilities.
• Foster positive sport and recreation participation experiences for women and girls.
• Increase utilisation of sport and recreation facilities by women and girls.

In addition, the Program also seeks to:

• Increase utilisation of sport and recreation facilities for people with disability, First Nations peoples, LGBTQIA+ people and people from culturally and linguistically diverse communities.
• Incorporate environmental sustainability and climate resiliency into design, construction, and operation.
