Welcome to our Community Funding Opportunities and Awards Program Newsletter where you will find details of grant and funding programs that are available for the Northern Inland Region for community based projects and social enterprises.

Due to the number of grants that are available, we send two funding opportunities newsletters a month; one for Business and Infrastructure and another for Community Projects and Award Programs. Coronavirus (COVID-19), Drought and Bushfire Assistance

To help businesses and individuals affected by Coronavirus (COVID-19) access the available assistance we have created a dedicated Coronavirus Assistance page on our website. This page will be updated as details become available on the recently announced economic stimulus packages from the Australian and NSW Governments.

There is also wide range of assistance available for individuals, businesses and communities that have been affected by the ongoing drought and the recent bushfires. To help you access this support, we have created dedicated Drought Assistance and  Bushfire Assistance pages on our website which are being updated reguarly.

Featured Grants

Bushfire Local Economic Recovery Fund
Closes:

Value: $200,000 to $20,000,000

The Bushfire Local Economic Recovery Fund will provide $250 million of further funding to support the social and economic recovery of communities affected by bushfire in 47 regional NSW Local Government Areas.

It will support projects that retain and create new jobs in regional areas, build resilience and increase preparedness for future bushfire seasons. 

Funding is available in the following three categories:

  • Infrastructure projects, such as roads to support increased industrial development.
  • Environmental projects, such as regeneration activities.
  • Programs including social, business and environmental education initiatives.

The following Local Councils in the Northern Inland are eligible:

  • Armidale Regional
  • Glen Innes Severn
  • Gwydir Shire
  • Inverell Shire
  • Narrabri Shire
  • Tamworth Regional
  • Tenterfield Shire
  • Uralla Shire
  • Walcha Shire

 

Matana Foundation Grants

Matana’s focus is on improving the welfare and wellbeing of young people from severely disadvantaged or marginalised backgrounds, or whose concerns and issues are not readily funded from other sources.

Recognising that disadvantage takes many forms, they prioritise projects and organisations that address the causes of youth disadvantage by:

  •  Providing programs primarily targeting school retention and increased education achievement for students who are at risk of dropping out of school or who have already dropped out. The focus is on early identification, customised learning and mentoring.
  •  Providing programs that target employment skills development, employment and career pathways and transitions into employment.
  •  Providing programs that target social and community connectedness, personal significance and social and emotional outcomes.
  •  Providing services in geographical areas across Australia where funding is difficult to source.

There is no minimum or maximum amount, but as a guide, grants are usually in the range of $1,000 to $10,000.

Australasian Reporting Awards

Provides all organisations that produce an annual report an opportunity to benchmark their annual reports against the ARA criteria which are based on world best practice.

Young Acheiver Awards

Acknowledges, encourages and promotes the positive achievements of all young people throughout Australia up to and including 29 years of age as of 31st December each year.

Clunies Ross Awards

The Academy of Technology and Engineering (ATSE) recognise outstanding Australian achievements in applied science, technology or engineering innovation and commercialisation.

National Science Week Grants 2021

National Science Week provides the opportunity for community participation in high profile science engagement activities across the nation.

COVID Safe Australia Day Program
Closes: 9th of November 2020
Value: Up to $20,000
Run By: National Australia Day Council
Aims to encourage celebrations to occur in a COVID safe environment which can be a new or existing public eventor activity, a community activity or an online engagement.

Australia Day Branding Program
Closes: 9th of November 2020
Value: $1,000
Run By: National Australia Day Council
Helps eligible organisations with printing costs to adopt and use the new branding and designs for Australia Day 2021 celebrations.

Bushfire Community Recovery and Resilience Fund - Stream 2
Closes: 10th of November 2020
Value: $20,000 to $300,000

Stream 2 is aimed at the broader community in bushfire-affected areas for social recovery and preparedness projects between $20,000 and $300,000.

Remote Airstrip Upgrade Program

Provides grants to enhance the safety and accessibility of aerodromes in remote and very remote areas to provide year round all weather access, particularly where road access is unavailable or unreliable.

Ansvar Community Education Program

Provides a range of grants to organisations supporting Australian youth through programs that fall under two categories, Empowerment and Education and Outreach Programs.

Strengthening Rural Communities - Small & Vital

The Strengthening Rural Communities program gives small rural, regional and remote communities across Australia the opportunity to access funds that can benefit and help secure their future prosperity. The Creative Kids Rebate can be put towards the cost of registration, participation or tuition fees for creative and cultural activities such as music lessons, language classes, coding and digital, visual and performing arts.

Before and After School Care Equipment and Facilities Grant Program

Supports schools and services to fund equipment and facilities that enable new services to establish and existing services to expand.

The Harcourts Foundation

Community War Memorials Fund
