Celebrating NAIDOC Week

This week, the 8th to the 15th of November, is NAIDOC week, a time to celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander excellence and Australia’s rich history and culture. The theme for 2020 is Always Was, Always Will Be, which highlights Australia’s ancient history and celebrates the traditions and cultures that endure today.

There are a range of events being held around the region, which can be found on the NAIDOC Week Events Register.

A range of teaching resources are available that are suitable for all ages on the NAIDOC website and as well as SBS Learn Teaching Resources from SBS as the NAIDOC Week Official Education Partner.

NAIDOC has also partnered with Facebook Australia and to help celebrate with the integration of story stickers, templates and music by indigenous creators on Instagram and Facebook. On the 14th of November at 6pm AEDT, Facebook Australia will also live stream NAIDOC LIVE: Celebrating Blak Excellence with will feature performances and appearances from some of Australia’s top Indigenous talent. This event will also allow online donations to raise money for the Indigenous Literacy Foundation.
