Modernised Multicultural Grants Program: Infrastructure for Multicultural Communities

The Infrastructure for Multicultural Communities grant opportunity provides total funding of up to $41.6 million (GST exclusive) for construction, upgrade or extension of infrastructure. You can apply for one of 3 streams of grant funding based on the type of infrastructure project and amount of grant funding you require for the project.

The grant opportunity is comprised of 2 funding opportunities, called batches. You can apply for funding in one batch.

  • Batch 1 opens on 7 April 2026 and closes on 18 May 2026.
  • Batch 2 opens on 18 May 2026 and closes on 12 November 2026.

The following groups and projects will be prioritised for funding:

  • new and emerging multicultural communities, as defined below
  • projects focussed on achieving positive outcomes for multicultural women, multicultural LGBTIQA+ community members, and multicultural people with a disability.

Co-contributions are required towards the value of your project and the minimum amount of co funding is determined by whether you are applying as a priority group/project or other.

The objectives of the grant opportunity are to:

  • deliver physical infrastructure to support multicultural communities connect and commune in a designated physical environment
  • provide co-funding to deliver community-focussed infrastructure and amenities
  • provide infrastructure and amenities that benefit the wider multicultural community by improving equity and social inclusion.

To be eligible, you must be:

  • a not-for-profit organisation
  • a legal entity with the capacity to enter into a legally binding grant agreement with the Commonwealth; and
  • one of the following entity types:
    • Company
    • Cooperative
    • Incorporated Association
    • Indigenous Corporation
    • Statutory Entity.

If you are applying as a Trustee on behalf of a Trust, the Trustee must be one of the eligible entity types as listed above.
