Natural disaster relief loans assist voluntary non-profit organisations directly affected by a declared natural disaster including flood, fire or storm damage.

Low interest rate loans are available:

• for the restoration of essential facilities that have been damaged or destroyed by a natural disaster
• and may also be directed towards temporary storage or leasing of alternate premises

A repayment term of up to five years is available dependent upon the amount borrowed and the applicant’s ability to repay.

A list of declared disasters and the associated closing dates for applications is available on the Rural Assistance Authority website.

The Workplace Legal Advice Program provides eligible employers and employees with free independent legal help to deal with workplace issues. 

The service is only for employment issues that involve:

• dismissal
• general protections
• bullying at work
• sexual harassment at work.

Law firms with specialist workplace experience provide the advice. It is free and confidential.

From 1 July 2022 to 30 June 2024, the Australian Apprenticeships Incentive System will provide broad support to the economy through wage subsidies for eligible employers in priority occupations. Priority occupations are those listed on the Australian Apprenticeships Priority List.

The objective of the Australian Apprenticeships Incentives Program is to contribute a highly skilled and relevant Australian workforce that supports economic sustainability and competitiveness.

This is achieved by encouraging:

• genuine opportunities for skills-based training and development of employees; and
• people to enter into skills-based training through an Australian Apprenticeship.

The Australian Apprenticeships Incentives Program contains a range of payments. Eligibility criteria apply to all Australian Government Australian Apprenticeships Incentives payments. Further information regarding eligibility can be obtained from your Australian Apprenticeship Support Network (AASN) provider.

Support through the Australian Apprenticeships Incentives Program is also provided to employers of Australian Apprentices working towards a Priority Occupation. The eligible Priority Occupations are Aged Care, Child Care, Disability Care Workers and Enrolled Nurses.

There are a range of financial and non-financial supports available, including:

• Commencement payments
• Retention payment
• Recommencement payment
• Completion payment
• Wage subsidy
• Identified skill shortage payment
• Assistance for apprentices with a disability

The Rheem Apprentice Plumber Grants 2024 will recognise applicants who embody qualities that make an exceptional plumber. An independent judging panel will be looking for applicants who are passionate about what they do, how they’ve overcome challenges in their career to get where they are now, and how they contribute to their local community.

This year there are 20 grants on offer, each valued at $3,000. Each grant includes $2,000 to go towards TAFE/RTO fees and textbooks, and a $1,000 tool voucher to help build your toolbox.

To be eligible, you must be an apprentice plumber or gas fitter in Australia, either current or starting in 2024*.

*Grant recipients from previous years are not eligible to enter. If you have previously entered but were unsuccessful, you are still eligible to enter in 2024.

Pathways to Politics for Women programs are open to women across Australia. They embrace an inclusive definition of ‘women’, acknowledging the diversity of women they work with and aim to support, including cisgender and transgender women, and non-binary people.

Participants are selected on a competitive basis. The selection process actively works to minimise barriers to entering politics, and prioritises community and professional experience as well as commitment to running for office.

The selection criteria are as follows:

• Commitment to seeking elected office
• Professional and life experience
• Political engagement
• Ability to tell your story in a compelling way.

The Clunies Ross Technology Innovation Awards recognise contributions by dedicated individuals,
or teams, who have shared their vision and knowledge with others to apply technology for the
benefit of Australia, and beyond.

The selection criteria for the Clunies Ross Technology Innovation Awards are:

1. A significant contribution to the advancement of industry and/or the community and/or the environment through the application of science, technology and engineering for the economic, social and/or environmental benefit of Australia.
2. Evidence of outcomes and impacts of the technology-based innovation in Australia.
3. Promotion of innovators and contribution to community awareness of technology-based innovation and evidence of mentoring the next generation of technology innovators.

100 Women is a collaborative giving circle that amplifies the giving power of everyday people to create significant change for women and girls. Their ever-growing giving circle gathers people from all walks of life to contribute and celebrate the life-changing impact that we together can have on women and girls locally, nationally and globally.

100 Women awards grants to organisations that advance the safety, health, education and economic freedom of women and girls.

Applications will be considered for projects up to A$50,000 and for a maximum period of 24 months that:

• Improve economic outcomes for girls and women who are disadvantaged or face barriers; or
• Improve health outcomes for girls and women; or
• Improve educational outcomes for girls and women; or
• Provide safety to girls and women at risk from sexual abuse, sex trafficking or family violence; or
• Address any of the Targets for Goal 5: Gender Equality UN Sustainable Development Goals (where the beneficiaries of the grant are girls and women).

Organisations must be a fund, authority or institution:

• which is Charitable (or would be a charity within the meaning of the Australian Charities Act 2013 (Cth) if it were not a ‘government entity’, as defined in the Act);
• Classified with Item 1 Deductible Gift Recipient Status (DGR); 
• has been operating for at least 36 months; and 
• has a total annual revenue (as last reported to the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission) of less than $10 million.

The award recognises research in the physical and biological sciences, allowing interdisciplinary and sociocultural research that could straddle the social sciences and humanities, by outstanding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander PhD students and early- and mid-career scientists. It aims to support their research and/or the expansion and growth of their research networks and international knowledge exchange through visits to relevant international centres of research.

Awards will be for up to $20,000, with additional support provided to attend the Academy's biennial Science at the Shine Dome event.

The Play Our Way Program Grant Opportunity is an open competitive opportunity that will provide funding of up to $200 million (inclusive of government administration costs) over three years from 2024-25. 

This Grant Opportunity aims to address the barriers women and girls face when participating in sport and physical activity by delivering quality facilities and sport participation experiences where the need is greatest, and in a manner that is safe, equitable, accessible, inclusive, sustainable and enduring. 

This Grant Opportunity will fund projects across two Streams: 

Stream 1: Facilities 

Applicants will be able to apply for a minimum of $50,000 up to a maximum of $1,500,000 for projects that support new and upgraded facilities, playing areas and spaces for sport and physical activity specifically for women and girls.

For Facility projects in small rural towns, remote communities or very remote communities as defined by the Modified Monash Model (MMM 5-78), the maximum will be $2,000,000 to reflect increased costs in rural and remote areas. Projects may be assessed and offered a lower amount than applied for.

Stream 2: Participation and equipment 

Applicants will be able to apply for a minimum of $50,000 up to a maximum of $1,000,000 for projects that support modifying and/or developing sustainable and enduring programs to promote women and girls’ participation in sport and physical activity, and/or new or upgraded equipment, specifically for women and girls. Projects may be assessed and offered a lower amount than applied for.

The HESTA Excellence Awards recognise exceptional achievements in a range of settings across aged care, allied health, community services and disability services.

Employers, colleagues, and patients from the aged care, allied health, community services and disability services sectors can nominate or be nominated for the Individual Leadership or Team Excellence categories.

The two categories will each have four winners, recognising excellence in the respective four health and community service sectors.

The eight winners will each receive $7500 for personal or professional development or further development of processes or services in the workplace.

The Resilient Australia Awards celebrate and promote initiatives that build whole of community resilience to disasters and emergencies around Australia as well as capture and share examples of resilience in action.

The awards recognise collaboration and innovative thinking across a broad range of sectors and initiatives that strengthen disaster resilience with communities, institutions, and the private sector. Innovative models and approaches that create sustainable change are highly regarded.

The awards endorse a wide range of initiatives; with past projects centred around risk assessment and mitigation, planning and preparation, and response and recovery.

Submissions for the 2024 awards program must relate to projects or initiatives that commenced after 1 January 2022 or demonstrate significant outcomes or enhancements since 1 January 2022.

The NSW Government is committed to achieving net zero emissions by 2050 and this will require supporting industry to decarbonise. Critical to enabling this is the Net Zero Plan Stage 1: 2020-2030 (the Net Zero Plan). The Net Zero plan will fast-track emissions reductions over the next decade to combat climate change, grow the economy, create jobs and attract investment.

In its 2023 budget, the NSW Government announced $480 million in funding to boost the net zero manufacturing initiative (the Initiative), which is a key part of the Net Zero Plan. The Initiative builds on from the work of the Net Zero Industry and Innovation Program (NZIIP) released in 2021 which includes Clean Technology Innovation (CTI) as one of 3 key focus areas.

Clean Technology Innovation has allocated $2.5 million in this round for technical and commercial viability studies of a project or product to make informed decisions before progressing with technology trials.

The Qantas Regional Grants program offers $2 million in support to Australian-based communities and projects that are looking to benefit our country's regional areas.

The Qantas Regional Grants judging panel will determine the successful applicants each year. The panel will examine all eligible entries and select applicants that they determine best meet all the criteria below.

1. The extent to which the applicant directly services a regional community need and demonstrates a measurable socioeconomic impact.
2. The extent to which the applicant can maximise local community benefits in regional Australia with the Qantas Regional Grants Program funding.
3. The extent to which the project or activity will celebrate and highlight the work of the applicant and help boost the profile and strength of the applicant for the future.
4. The ability of the applicant to demonstrate innovation in their project strategy, goals and mission, and how these align to improving their service offering and increasing regional impact.

Are you working in the aged care sector and have a problem in your workplace? Do you need support to find a solution? The free Innovator Training Program is designed to provide you or your team with tools and skills to use available knowledge and evidence to solve a problem in your workplace.

By joining the Innovator Training Program (ITP), ‘Innovators’ will receive dedicated training to implement changes based on available research evidence, and shape a solution that is appropriate for local settings and organisations.

The training program provides individuals or teams with the skills and knowledge to:

• Understand the components of a problem
• Find best-practice evidence to solve the problem
• Manage change and innovation within the workplace
• Measure if the change has made a difference.

The objective of the program is to commemorate the service and sacrifice of Australia’s service personnel in wars, conflicts and peace operations, and their families.

The intended outcome of the grant opportunity is to provide funding for projects and activities that:

• promote appreciation and understanding of the experiences of service and the roles that those who served have played
• preserve, add to the sum of knowledge on, or provide access to information about Australia’s wartime heritage.

Projects and activities relating to all wars, conflicts and peacekeeping operations are eligible.

The program aims to provide funding for projects and activities that are ready to proceed and where STS grant funding will ensure their completion. Projects must be able to be completed within 12 months of the funding agreement being executed.

There are 2 categories of grants available under the program:

Community Grants (CG)
Grants to a maximum of $10,000 are available for local, community-based projects and activities. These small grants are for projects and activities that are focused on the local community, commemorate the service and sacrifice of local community members, and are primarily accessed by the local community.

Some examples of CG projects and activities include:

• development of a digital honour roll
• restoration of an honour board
• purchase of a cabinet to display military memorabilia
• installation of a flagpole to display Australian National Flags on days of commemoration.

Major Grants (MG)
Grants between $10,001 and $150,000 are available for major commemorative projects and activities that are significant from a national, state, territory and/or broader regional perspective. These projects may include the construction of new war or peace memorials, where none currently exists, as well as additions to existing memorials.

Major Grants will have a much wider focus than CG category applications and must be commemorative of the service and sacrifice of service personnel beyond the local community, and/or consist of elements that are available to the whole nation, or residents of a state, territory, or broader regional area. A high monetary value project or activity does not necessarily mean that it is of national, state, territory and/or significant to a broader region.

Some examples of MG projects and activities include:

• construction of an interactive memorial walking track dedicated to Australian service personnel from the Vietnam War
• development of a digital honour roll and interpretive signage to commemorate the history of service personnel from a particular region
• publication of a book commemorating Australian service personnel from the Malayan Emergency
• development of a documentary commemorating Australian Prisoners of War.

Assessment and notification of outcomes will be divided into 3 batches closing in June 2024, October 2024 and February 2025.
