This grants program provides funding for up to 18 months to assist organisations to deliver innovative career guidance services for people at all stages of their careers.

It aims to :

  • improve the quality of, and access to, locally based, personalised career guidance
  • demonstrate the value of career guidance to those seeking to re-enter the workforce, change or further develop their careers, primary school students and students in years 7 to 10
  • increase knowledge and create greater awareness of career paths and career guidance
  • develop and deliver innovative locally based approaches to delivering career guidance services.

The intended outcomes of the program are:

  • enhanced career pathways that help all people reach their full career potential
  • increased understanding of skills sought by employers, particularly at a local level
  • stronger local collaboration in the delivery of careers guidance
  • improved quality of locally based career guidance.

This funding round will support locally based, face-to-face (including virtual face-to-face) career guidance projects, activities and services

Commencing in 1994, the Australian Training Awards are the peak, national awards for the vocational education and training (VET) sector, recognising individuals, businesses and registered training organisations for their contribution to skilling Australia.

In addition to the categories from the state based categories, the following categories can be applied for directly:

  • 2021 Outstanding Achievement in the VET and Skills Sector Award
  • Australian Apprenticeships - Employer Award
  • School Pathways to VET Award
  • Excellence in Language, Literacy and Numeracy Practice Award
  • Small Employer of the Year Award

JobTrainer Program Run By: Australian Government Department of Education, Skills and Employment Further Information: https://www.myskills.gov.au/jobtrainer/NSW?js=8

The new $1 billion JobTrainer program will provide up to an additional 340,700 training places to help school leavers and job seekers access short and long courses to develop new skills in growth sectors and create a pathway to more qualifications.

Courses will be free or low cost in areas of identified need, with the Federal Government providing $500 million with matched contributions from state and territory governments.

Restart Grant Closes: Ongoing Value: Up to $10,000 Run By: Australian Government Department of Education, Skills and Employment Further Information: https://www.employment.gov.au/restart-help-employ-mature-workers-0

Restart is a financial incentive of up to $10,000 (GST inclusive) to encourage businesses to hire and retain mature age employees who are 50 years of age and over.

Payments are made by employment services providers to businesses over six months. Employers can negotiate how often they receive the payments. Employers may also be able to receive a kickstart payment of up to 40 per cent of the total amount after four weeks of the job starting.
