Tourism Product Development Fund – Refresh and Renew Grant Closes: 9th of December 2021 Value: Up to $30,000 Run By: Destination NSW Further Information: https://www.destinationnsw.com.au/tourism/business-development-resources/funding-and-grants/tourism-product-development-fund#rar

This fund is available to businesses based in regional NSW that operate a medium size accommodation property i.e. more than 10 rooms and less than 100 rooms.  Grants are intended to assist the accommodation provider improve their facilities and accommodation to better meet consumer expectations with particular emphasis on addressing issues that have been identified by consumers through their feedback.

Eligible applicants include:

  • Hotels
  • Resorts
  • Motels
  • Private Hotels
  • Guest Houses
  • Apartments
  • Caravan, Camping and Holiday Parks (Note: Cabins only - not camping or caravan sites).
  • Retreats and Lodges
  • Backpackers and Hostels
  • Bed and Breakfasts

Work could include, but is not limited by:

  • Fresh paint
  • New linens
  • Upgrades to the reception area
  • New beds
  • Soft furnishings
  • Awnings or shade structures to expand all-weather outdoor dining/seating
  • Improved Wi-Fi
  • Contactless customer service technologies, such as, keyless entry and automated check-in.

A grant of $30,000 (excluding GST) is available per applicant. The applicant will need to contribute at least $15,000 (excluding GST) of their own funds towards the work proposed. The work proposed must therefore cost at least $45,000 (excluding GST). Applications can be for projects of a greater value; however, all additional costs will need to be covered by the applicant.

Tourism Product Development Fund - Experience Development Grant Closes: 16th of January 2022 Value: $80,000 to $150,000 Run By: Destination NSW Further Information: https://www.destinationnsw.com.au/tourism/business-development-resources/funding-and-grants/tourism-product-development-fund/experience-development-guidelines

This fund is available to businesses that are proposing to develop a new attraction or experience in NSW that directly aligns with the NSW strengths identified in the Visitor Economy Strategy (VES) 2030. This fund involves a two-stage process. The first stage is an Expression of Interest (EOI). The shortlisted EOIs will be invited to submit a full application.

Local Councils, Industry Associations and new or existing tourism operators based and operating in NSW, including Greater Sydney, can apply.

The Experience Development application is a two-stage process. Applicants will initially submit an Expression of Interest (EOI). The EOI is a shorter form and will require less information and evidence from an applicant. Each submitted EOI will be assessed and a short list of the strongest eligible projects will be invited to submit a full application.

For every dollar in funding you are requesting, you will need to have your own funds to (at least) match the funding being requested on a dollar for dollar basis.

Regional Event Fund - Event Development Stream - 2022 Grant Closes: Ongoing Value: Up to $50,000 Run By: Destination NSW Further Information: https://www.destinationnsw.com.au/tourism/business-development-resources/funding-and-grants/regional-event

Grants are available to eligible events that have previously received triennial funding through the Flagship Event stream to support initiatives that have a direct impact on increasing overnight visitation to the event.

The Event Development stream supports the strategic growth of proven events that demonstrate a clear rationale for the continued development of its tourism potential.

Applications for the 2022 Event Development stream are now open and will remain open until available funds are exhausted. Applications to the Event Development stream must be received by Destination NSW in sufficient time prior to the next event to allow for assessment and delivery of the initiative for which funding has been requested.
