The Para Athlete Barriers Fund is a one-off grant program to support categorised athletes to overcome individual barriers to their progression or performance in Para sports.

To be eligible to apply for the Para Athlete Barriers Fund you must, at the time of application:

  • be an athlete categorised by a recognised National Sporting Organisation (NSO) or National Sporting Organisation for people with Disability (NSOD) in a para sport
  • be categorised into one of the following disciplines as per the Athlete Categorisation Framework:
    • Podium
    • Podium Ready
    • Podium Potential
    • Developing
    • Emerging
  • be actively participating with a recognised NSO/D in training and competition within their para sport;
  • have no anti-doping rule violations any time; and
  • have no match fixing offences at any time.

Local Sporting Champions - 2024-25 - Round 4 Grant Closes: 30th of April 2025 Value: $500 to $750 Run By: Australian Sports Commission Further Information: https://www.sportaus.gov.au/grants_and_funding/local_sporting_champions

This program provides financial assistance for coaches, officials and competitors aged 12-18 participating in state, national or international championships.

Between $500 and $750 is available towards the cost of attending their championships as follows:.

  • Base Grant: $500
  • Applicants travelling 800km - 1999km to their nominated championships: + $100
  • Applicants travelling internationally or greater than 2000km to their nominated championships: + $200
  • Applicants residing in a rural electorate: + $50

The Local Para Champions program provides financial assistance for coaches, officials and competitors aged 12-24 participating in state, national or international championships for athletes with a disability.

If successful, applicants will receive $750-$1000 towards the cost of attending their championships

  • Base Grant: $750
  • Applicants travelling 800km - 1999km to their nominated championships: + $100
  • Applicants travelling internationally or greater than 2000km to their nominated championships: + $200
  • Applicants residing in a rural electorate: + $50

Sporting Schools offers grant opportunities for primary schools, and targeted grant opportunities for secondary schools in relation to year 7 and 8 students. Grants support the delivery of sport-based programs to help students build the confidence and capability to be active for life. Sporting Schools has partnered with more than 35 national sporting organisations (NSOs) and national sporting organisations for people with disability (NSODs) to facilitate delivery of Sporting Schools programs.

The objectives of Sporting Schools are to:

  • engage primary school students in free, high-quality sport programs at school
  • engage secondary school students (Years 7-8) in free, high-quality sport programs at school, particularly inactive students, girls, and students attending schools in disadvantaged areas
  • establish partnerships between sporting organisations and schools to promote involvement in sport outside of school
  • develop the capability of schools and teachers to provide students with positive sport experiences
  • build the capability of coaches and the sport workforce
  • support life-long involvement in sport and physical activity to enhance health and wellbeing.

There are four rounds for 2025:
Term 1, 2025 - Opens Monday 21 October, 2024 and closes Friday 8 November, 2024
Term 2, 2025 - Opens Monday 17 February, 2025 and closes Friday 7 March, 2025
Term 3, 2025 - Opens Monday 12 May, 2025 and closes Friday 30 May, 2025
Term 4, 2025 - Opens Monday 4 August, 2025 and closes Friday 22 August, 2025
