Funding provided through Battery Breakthrough Initiative (BBI) may include capital grants, production incentives or other payments deemed appropriate by the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) for the project. ARENA may take a portfolio approach to selecting Projects for funding, giving consideration to how a Project will contribute to the Program Outcomes either uniquely or as part of a suite of complementary ARENA activities.

BBI is an open, merit-based program which will remain open until funds are exhausted or otherwise terminated or extended by ARENA.

The program’s objective is to fund projects that contribute to one or more of the following program outcomes:

• Enhance Australia’s battery manufacturing capability to improve supply chain resilience and support emissions reduction
• Commercialise battery manufacturing processes and technologies that can contribute to emissions reduction.

The Future Made in Australia (FMA) Innovation Fund (the Program) administered by ARENA will provide up to $1.5 billion in grant funding to support pre-commercial innovation, demonstration and deployment of renewable energy and low emission technologies (Technologies), to support Australia’s transition to a net zero economy. FMA is an ongoing program which will remain open until funding is exhausted or ARENA closes the Program. Successful projects are expected to achieve one or more of the following Program Outcomes:

• increase uptake of the Technologies through innovation and commercialisation activities.
• improve Australia’s capability and capacity to produce or manufacture the Technologies.
• support and/or contribute to stronger supply chains to enable increased use of the Technologies.
• improve knowledge, skills and/or workforce participation associated with the Technologies.

ARENA undertook targeted consultation through March and April 2025 with market participants, key consultancies and industry bodies and associations, to understand and identify industries and areas most suited for funding within the priority areas.

The FMA Innovation Fund launched in December 2025 and will be an ongoing, open program. Grant funding will be available across three Priorities (the Priorities):

• $750 million to Green Metals including iron, steel, alumina and aluminium.
• Initial tranche of $200 million to Renewable Energy Technology Manufacturing (RETM) to enable development of technologies seeking to alleviate critical supply chain challenges facing the clean energy transition.
• $250 million to Low Carbon Liquid Fuels (LCLF) including sustainable aviation fuels and renewable diesel.

The Industrial Transformation Stream (ITS) is open for applications supporting a range of industrial decarbonisation solutions, including but not limited, to electrification, energy efficiency, low emissions processing and fuel switching. Enabling technologies such as energy storage, demand management and critical infrastructure supporting onsite decarbonisation may also be considered. Funding is guided by the Program Focus Areas.

About the program

The objectives of the ITS Program are to:

• Support industrial facilities in regional Australia to reduce emissions in line with Australia’s 2030 emissions reduction goals and transition to net zero by 2050.
• Improve technology readiness and commercial readiness of renewable energy technologies, energy efficiency technologies and electrification technologies that will result in a significant reduction in scope 1 and/or scope 2 emissions or improve the energy efficiency of an industrial process or processes.
• Encourage technology demonstration, collaboration and knowledge sharing across industry and/or regions.
• Support upskilling of existing industrial workforce in new decarbonisation activities.

ITS is now open to applications for Round 3 on an open, ongoing basis. 

Funding will be available until funding is exhausted.

Focus areas - Round 3

Opened in September 2025, ARENA has allocated the remaining $180 million of ITS funding towards Round 3. This is an open, ongoing round where ARENA will remain open to new applications until ITS grant funding is exhausted.

Round 3’s Focus Areas are:

• innovation in industrial decarbonisation; and
• advancing commercial deployment.

The Program can support projects ranging from feasibility studies and front-end engineering and design (FEED) to trials, demonstrations and deployment. Two-stage projects combining a study and subsequent deployment will also be considered.

Heat Pump Feasibility Grant helps eligible NSW businesses to assess whether a heat pump is a feasible option for their site. You can apply for up to $30,000 to cover 75% of the project costs.

To drive the uptake of heat pumps, the Grant aims to: 

• enable NSW businesses to make informed decisions on heat pump implementation
• increase business productivity with high-efficiency heating, reduced exposure to rising fuel costs and lowered emissions
• support the growth of industry capability
• accelerate the uptake of the NSW Energy Security Safeguard.

To be eligible for this Grant, you must meet all of the following criteria:  

• have a current Australian Business Number (ABN) and be registered for goods and services tax (GST).
• deliver your heat pump project at a NSW business site address.
• use between 5,000 and 100,000 gigajoules (GJ) of gas (liquified natural gas, liquified petroleum gas, natural gas) per year at your business site, excluding fuel for transport. 
• have identified a specialist consultant(s) to complete the Grant milestones.

There are multiple grants available to people in the process of buying a new home who meet the eligibility criteria.

Grant amounts include:

• Up to $2,500 for legal and administrative costs.
• Up to $10,000 to  match the house deposit you've saved. 
• Up to $20,000 in co-contribution for eligible long-term AHO residents. 

To be eligible for a Home Ownership grant, you must be an Aboriginal person who:

• has saved at least $1,000 toward a deposit
• has a maximum individual or combined annual income of up to $200,000
• currently lives in NSW and is purchasing a property in NSW
• does not currently own residential property (unless it's land you intend to build on)
• has not qualified for Indigenous Business Australia (IBA) Remote Indigenous Home Loan package.

This grant is designed for people who are most in need and meet the eligibility criteria.

The Aboriginal Affairs NSW Cultural Grants Program supports Aboriginal community organisations and groups across NSW to celebrate Aboriginal cultures and hold key cultural events and activities.

The AANSW Cultural Grants Program:

• Supports Aboriginal communities to strengthen, protect and maintain traditional and contemporary expressions of Aboriginal culture
• Supports Aboriginal cultural events and activities
• Contributes to Aboriginal community wellbeing and healing through Aboriginal culture and community connection
• Supports sharing of Aboriginal cultural knowledge and skills between generations.

To be eligible for funding, applicants must be one of the following:

1. A not-for-profit organisation, and one of the following:
   • An Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation (ACCO)
   • An Aboriginal not-for-profit organisation
2. An unincorporated Aboriginal community group with an eligible Auspice
3. An Aboriginal Sole Trader or Business whose primary business activity relates to cultural expression or revitalisation

Applicants or their Auspice must also:

1. Be a legal entity located in NSW or in a bordering community that delivers services to Aboriginal communities in NSW
2. Propose a project to be delivered in NSW
3. Have public liability of at least $10 million per claim (or be willing to purchase as part of the application to support the project)
4. Have no outstanding requirements relating to previous funding from AANSW

The Journalism Assistance Fund Program, running over 3 years from 2025-26, was announced as part of the News Media Assistance Program (News MAP). News MAP aims to support public interest journalism and media diversity in Australia - recognising these are critical to a healthy democracy, social cohesion and informed citizens.

Organisations producing core news content will be eligible for funding. The funding will provide a proportion of the wages for journalists producing core news content that is distributed digitally. 

The program aims to:

• support the sustainability of Australian news publishers in the face of significant disruption to the media sector
• support the creation of digitally distributed news content,
• encourage continued employment of journalists who primarily produce news that is in the Australian public interest
• build and maintain social cohesion in Australia

You can apply if you:

• have an Australian business number (ABN)
• are registered for the Goods and Services Tax (GST)
• have an account with an Australian financial institution
• are an entity that produces and publishes core news content that is distributed digitally

and be one of the following entities:

• an entity, incorporated in Australia
• a company 
• an incorporated trustee on behalf of a trust
• an incorporated association
• a co-operative
• a partnership
• an incorporated not for profit organisation or registered charity
• a sole trader. 

The Gordon Darling Foundation is a perpetual public charitable trust, established in 1991 to "support Australia-wide, activities of importance in the Visual Arts."

The Foundation can only provide funding to Public Institutions in Australia. Applicant organisations must have Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) status. Individuals wishing to apply for funding for projects must partner with a Public Institution which then takes on responsibility for the project.

Funding may be provided for:

• catalogues and publications:
  • that are scholarly, with well-researched new information.
  • that provide a permanent record of an exhibition, collection, or work of an artist or movement.
• professional education initiatives, including individual professional development.
• collection management initiatives, including database development, digitisation and conservation.
• research projects leading to the recognition and publication of material of significance.
• internationally known speakers for symposia.

The objective of the GPACI is to improve access to quality, proactive general practice care for older people who live in aged care homes by incentivising proactive visits, regular, planned reviews and coordinated care planning.

Primary care providers and practices registered in MyMedicare will receive incentive payments for providing their MyMedicare registered patients who permanently live in residential aged care homes with care planning services and regular visits.

The Strategic Opportunities Program supports innovative projects designed to strengthen the NSW screen and digital games industries.

The objectives of the program are to fund projects that:

• Build capacity within the NSW screen and digital games industries
• Support the growth and capability of NSW screen and digital games practitioners, organisations and businesses
• Are aligned with one or more strategic priorities in the NSW Screen & Digital Games Strategy (2025-2027):
  • Priority 1 – Creating Stories
  • Priority 2 – Building Sustainable Growth
  • Priority 3 – Improving Capacity and Capability
  • Priority 4 – Developing Audiences to Increase Demand
• Increase industry participation for audiences and/or screen and digital games practitioners from one or more NSW Government key priority areas:
  • Regional NSW
  • Western Sydney
  • First Nations people
  • People from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds
  • People living with disability
  • LGBTQIA+ people.

To be eligible for funding under the Strategic Opportunities Program, applicants must:

• Discuss their proposed project with Screen NSW staff before submitting an application
• Be an Australian organisation, including:
• Companies and not-for-profit incorporated bodies
• Co-operatives, trusts or local government authorities
• A consortium or a group of organisations working collaboratively*
• Have an Australian Business Number (ABN)
• Be legally constituted and able to provide proof of legal status
• Adhere to general eligibility requirements under the Screen NSW Terms of Trade.

*In the case of a consortium or group of organisations working collaboratively, one eligible organisation must be nominated as the lead organisation. If successful, the funding grant agreement will be between Screen NSW and the lead organisation.

The Strengthening Rural Communities (SRC) Small & Vital stream gives small remote, rural and regional communities across Australia the opportunity to access funds for a broad range of initiatives that directly and clearly benefit local communities.

Grants up to $10,000 are available for a broad range of grassroots, community-led initiatives that directly and clearly benefit local communities that strengthen local people, places and climate solutions, with a preference for smaller communities (populations under 15,000).

FRRR’s Small & Vital program supports thriving, resilient, and sustainable remote, rural and regional communities across Australia. In particular, priority will be given to projects that:

• Support communities to implement generational transition;
• Invest in outback, remote, and less resourced communities;
• Build capacity and resourcing for a just and equitable energy transition;
• Support First Nations-led initiatives that strengthen culture, country, economic participation, and reconciliation.

Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis and assessed quarterly.

The Strengthening Rural Communities (SRC) Prepare & Recover program supports communities in remote, rural and regional communities across Australia to implement initiatives that prevent and prepare for future climate related impacts, or recover from existing disasters in the medium to long-term timeframe, generally one to ten years after the disaster.

The program recognise that remote, rural and regional communities across Australia are vulnerable to climate change and disasters, experience capacity challenges in responding to and preparing for disasters where often existing disadvantage is exacerbated.

Grants up to $25,000 are available for a broad range of initiatives that focus on community-led resilience building in recovery or preparedness to strengthen the capacity and  capability of local people and systems, especially to manage the impact of future disasters. 

Projects that focus on strengthening local inclusion, networks, communication, information sharing, self-organising systems, local decision making, resourcing, tools and support will be prioritised.

Demonstration of project need must reference a specific climate impact or event, either historic or likely to occur in the future.

Practices participating in The Bulk Billing Practice Incentive Program (BBPIP) receive an additional 12.5% incentive payment on every $1 of the MBS benefits paid from eligible services, split evenly (50/50) between the GP and the practice. 

Participating practices must bulk bill every eligible MBS service (Outlined at Appendix 15.3 of the Grant Opportunity Guidelines) for all their Medicare-eligible patients to receive the incentive payment. Eligible MBS services include the most common GP services such as time-tiered consultation items, health assessments, mental health treatment items, and chronic condition management items. The BBPIP incentive payment is in addition to MBS benefits paid, and MBS BBIs are paid independently of the BBPIP incentive payments.

The focus of the ISP program is aimed at building the inclusion capacity and capability of eligible CCS approved ECEC services, where there are barriers to the participation of children with additional needs, with their typically developing peers. The program helps to ensure all children have genuine opportunities to access, participate and achieve positive learning outcomes as per the Approved Learning Frameworks.

The program also assists services to implement their quality, inclusive and equitable obligations under the National Quality Framework (NQF) and in accordance with the National Quality Standard (NQS) and Approved Learning Frameworks.

ECEC services eligible for support through the program are services that have been approved by the department for the provision of the Child Care Subsidy (CCS) under the Family Assistance Law. The Family Assistance Law is the basis for Commonwealth child care fee assistance, which includes the Child Care Subsidy and Additional Child Care Subsidy (ACCS). The Family Assistance Law also provides for the approval of these services to administer the Child Care Subsidy on behalf of families.
