Northern Inland residents encouraged to enter ‘MyRegion’ National Photographic Competition

Thursday 16th of June 2011

Residents of the Northern Inland are invited to showcase the natural beauty, places, people and wildlife that make our region so special in the inaugural ‘MyRegion’ National Photographic Competition.

Regional Development Australia Northern Inland (RDANI) Executive Officer, Nathan Axelsson, said that this competition is the perfect way to showcase the diversity that can be found in our region. “This competition is a great way to let the rest of the country know what the Northern Inland has to offer; from wide sweeping plains, to rugged hills and gorges; vibrant inland cities and traditional farming communities. The Northern Inland has it all, and as they say, a picture tells a thousand words,” Mr Axelsson said.

The winners of the competition will have their work displayed at the National Film and Sound Archive and their photos will be on the federal government’s new MyRegion website to showcase what their region has to offer to other Australians.

Entries will be judged by a panel of experts including world renowned photographer Steve Parrish and actress Deborah Mailman. The public will also have the chance to vote and comment on the website.

“This is not only a great opportunity to win some fantastic prizes but also an avenue to truly display what makes the Northern Inland so great and why it truly is the greatest place to live,” Mr Axelsson said.

The competition is an initiative of the Australian Government’s Department of Regional Australia, Regional Development and Local Government.

Entries close 26th June, 2011. For more information on the competition go to www.myregion.strutta.com or email contactus@myregion.gov.au
