This program provides personalised advice to small businesses to reduce their energy usage and get better energy deals.

Through this service you will:

  • understand your energy saving opportunities
  • choose the best energy plan for your business
  • receive tailored advice on energy efficiency opportunities best suited to your industry

The program also offers a Small Business Energy Check, a free online energy spend benchmarking tool. It allows businesses to compare energy spend to other similar business in the same industry and region. You can learn if your business is paying too much for energy.

Businesses that have 6 to 20 employees, or have 5 or less and have been adversely affected by the drought are eligible.

Before and After School Care services play an essential role in the livelihood and wellbeing of NSW families. Grants have been designed to ensure providers are well supported in delivering affordable, flexible and quality care, to address demand and provide access to before and after school care for every NSW primary school child who needs it.

The Viability Grant offers short-term financial relief to existing services that are experiencing financial stress and have a demonstrable risk of closing in the short-term.

Payroll Tax Deferrals Program Closes: Ongoing Run By: NSW Government Department of Revenue Further Information: https://www.revenue.nsw.gov.au/news-media-releases/covid-19-tax-relief-measures/covid-19-coronavirus-and-payroll-tax

Businesses can opt in to defer payroll tax payments on the 2020-21 annual reconciliation return and  tax payable on wages paid in July and August. Interest free repayment plans for up to 12 months will be available.

Eligible businesses can defer their 2020-21 payroll tax reconciliation that is normally due on the 28th of July. Businesses also have the option to defer payments due on 7 August and 7 September until 7 October 2022.

This program is available to all NSW businesses that are required to pay payroll tax.

After lodging their 2021 annual reconciliation, businesses will have the option of paying all of their outstanding liability in full or entering into a new Support Payment Arrangement.

If customers choose to enter into a 2021 Support Payment Arrangement, they will have the option to include tax payable from the 2020/21 annual reconciliation and any monthly liabilities for the July, August and September 2021 return periods

Support for micro-businesses that have been impacted by the recent COVID-19 restrictions and stay-at-home orders. 

It will provide a fortnightly payment of $1,500 per fortnight for businesses with a turnover between $30,000 and $75,000

To be eligible, busineses need to:

  • Have a turnover between $30k and $75k
  • Have a revenue decline of 30% or more
  • Provide the primary income source for a person associated with the business.

Eligible applicants can use the grant for business costs incurred due to the impacts of the public health order in NSW and for which no other government support is available, including:

  • salaries and wages
  • utilities and rent
  • financial, legal or other advice
  • marketing and communications
  • perishable goods
  • other business costs.

JobSaver Grant Closes: Ongoing Value: $1,000 to $100,000 per week Run By: NSW Government Further Information: https://www.service.nsw.gov.au/transaction/jobsaver-payment

Job Saver is a support program funded jointly by the NSW and Commonwealth governments to maintain employment of staff for small and medium businesses impacted by the current health restrictions.

It will provide fortnightly payments to help maintain employee headcount and provide cashflow support to businesses.

Employing businesses can receive 40% of weekly payroll, with a minimum payment of $1,500 per week and a maximum payment of $10,000 per week. Non-employing business, and sole traders can receive $1,000 per week.

To be eligible, busineses need to have a revenue decline of 30% or more and a turnover between $75,000 and $50 million. Support for larger businesses in the hospitality, tourism and recreation industries with a turnover of between $250M to $1B is available under the JobSaver - Large Tourism, Hospitality and Recreation Business program, see a separate listing for this program.

Eligible businesses can use JobSaver to cover business costs incurred due to the impacts of the public health order in NSW. These costs may include:

  • salaries and wages
  • utilities and rent
  • financial, legal or other advice
  • marketing and communications
  • perishable goods
  • other business costs.

Employing businesses need to maintain your employee headcount from 13 July 2021 if you received payments from the start of JobSaver, or otherwise from the day before the fortnight that you first experienced the required decline in turnover.

For non-employing businesses, such as sole traders, show that the business is the primary income source for the associated person. If you have more than one non-employing business, you can only claim payments for one business.

If you’re a business, sole trader or not-for-profit organisation in NSW and you've been impacted by the recent COVID-19 restrictions, you may be eligible for a one-off grant of $7,500, $10,500 or $15,000.

The 2021 COVID-19 business grant provides cash flow support for businesses that experienced reduced demand or had to close due to the public health orders. Eligible applicants across NSW can use the grant for business costs incurred from 1 June 2021, including:

  • utilities, wages and rent
  • financial, legal or other advice to support business continuity planning
  • marketing and communications activities to develop the business
  • the cost of perishable goods that can no longer be used
  • other activities to support the operation of the business.

Three different grant amounts will be available depending on the decline in turnover experienced over a minimum 2-week period from 26 June 2021 to 26 July 2021, compared to the same period in 2019:

  • $7,500 for a decline of 30% or more
  • $10,500 for a decline of 50% or more
  • $15,000 for a decline of 70% or more.

To be eligible for the grant, you must:

  • have an active Australian Business Number (ABN)
  • demonstrate your business was operating in NSW as at 1 June 2021
  • have had total annual Australian wages of $10 million or less as at 1 July 2020
  • have had an aggregated annual turnover between $75,000 and $50 million (inclusive) for the year ended 30 June 2020
  • have business costs for which there is no other government support available
  • maintain your employee headcount as at 13 July 2021. See the guidelines for definitions.

This program provides relief to commercial and residential landowners, who provide a reduction in rent to a tenant who is experiencing financial distress as a result of COVID-19.

It is intended to reduce a landowner’s land tax payable for 2021, by up to 100%, for a taxable parcel of land where rent relief has been given to the tenant who occupies that land.

The NSW Government has also introduced a Residential Tenancy Support Payment for properties tenanted in NSW. A property is only able to receive either the 2021 land tax COVID-19 relief or the Residential Tenancy Support Payment.

The Residential Tenancy Support Payment provides up to $1500 per tenancy agreement. This grant will be available for landlords who agree to reduce the rent for COVID-19 impacted tenants from 14 July 2021. The rent reduction agreement can run longer than the 60-day moratorium period (i.e. beyond September 11) if the tenant and landlord agree.

The amount for each landlord will be capped at the reduction that is passed onto the tenants, or $1500, whichever is the lower.

Landlords cannot ask tenants to repay the reduced amount of rent that has been paid to them under the Residential Tenancy Support Payment

The Employment Assistance Fund (EAF) helps people with disabilities and mental health conditions to buy work related modifications and services.

The EAF is available to people with disability who are about to start a job or who are currently working, as well as people who need help to find and prepare for a job. It is also available to people with disability who are self-employed, and jobseekers who need Auslan assistance, or special work equipment to look for and prepare for a job.

To be eligible for the EAF, the person with disability must:

  • be an Australian citizen or permanent resident
  • be currently in a job that is expected to continue for 13 weeks or more
  • be working at least eight hours per week, or 20 hours per week if self-employed
  • have an ongoing disability that has lasted, or will last at least two years. Your disability must limit, restrict or impair your ability to work.

Law firms with specialist workplace experience provide the advice. It is free and confidential.

With an aim to help brighten the futures of regional communities, Qantas has launched a new Regional Grants Program that will provide financial, flights and marketing support to community groups and organisations to help further their causes and set them up for success.

The Qantas Regional Grants judging panel will determine the successful applicants each year. Judges will examine all eligible entries and select applicants that they determine best meet the below criteria.

  • The extent to which the applicant directly services a regional community need and demonstrates a measurable socioeconomic impact.
  • The extent to which the applicant can maximise local community benefits in regional Australia with the Qantas Regional Grants Program funding.
  • The extent to which the project or activity will celebrate and highlight the work of the applicant and help boost the profile and strength of the applicant for the future.
  • The ability of the applicant to demonstrate innovation in their project strategy, goals and mission, and how these align to improving their service offering and increasing regional impact.
