When fishing in NSW waters, both freshwater and saltwater, recreational fishers are required to pay the NSW Recreational Fishing Fee. All revenue raised by the NSW Recreational Fishing Fee is placed into the Recreational Fishing Trusts. There are two Trusts - one for saltwater and one for freshwater. Funds from the Trusts are used to deliver a wide range of projects and programs to boost recreational fishing opportunities in NSW.

There are different funding applications to choose from when applying for funding:

  • Fishing education projects - up to $10,000 of funding
  • Infrastructure and access projects - up to $50,000 of funding

Objective

Deliver projects using funds from the Trusts to boost recreational fishing opportunities in NSW. Projects in the current funding round are required to fall within the following grant platforms:

  • Fishing infrastructure and improving fishing access,
  • Recreational fishing education

Goals

  • Implement innovative projects to boost recreational fishing opportunities.
  • Promote recreational fishing as a healthy, outdoors activity for the whole family.
  • Educate fishers to fish responsibly and safely.
  • Promote the sustainable growth of recreational fishing.

Supporting People with Cancer (SPWC) is an annual grant program that funds projects aimed at reducing the impact of cancer and providing better support for people affected by cancer.

It is one of several funding programs that contribute to Cancer Australia’s purpose to minimise the impact of cancer, address disparities, and improve health outcomes of people affected by cancer in Australia, by providing national leadership in cancer control. Funding through SPWC is intended to be complementary and not duplicative to existing Government funding.

In alignment with the strategic objectives of the Australian Cancer Plan, SPWC has a strong focus on achieving equity in cancer outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

Eligibility:

Two categories of organisations are eligible to receive a grant where they meet the following eligibility criteria.

Community organisations
To be eligible you must:

  • be registered with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission, and
  • demonstrate ongoing and culturally acceptable connections with community, including one or more priority population groups or people whose cancer outcomes are inequitable.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisations
To be eligible you must: 

  • an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander charity or not-for-profit organisation registered with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission; or 
  • be an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Corporation registered with the Office of the Registrar of Indigenous Corporations, and
  • demonstrate ongoing and culturally acceptable connections with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

The purpose of this grant is to fund innovative projects that empower military families and their communities to develop strong coping mechanisms, foster a supportive environment, and promote overall well-being.

Any incorporated not-for-profit organisation can apply for a FSFP grant. Grants support the delivery of programs and services to help current serving ADF families to navigate the challenges and opportunities of military life such as mobility and absence, foster a sense of community and develop resilience.

To be eligible, applicants must be one of the following Australian not-for-profit organisations whose volunteers’ work supports Defence families and/or communities in Australia and are legal entities and have been operating for 12 months or longer. 

A not-for-profit (NFP) organisation whose NFP status must be demonstrated through one of the following: 

  • current Registration with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC)
  • state or territory incorporated association status
  • constitutional documents and/or Articles of Association that demonstrate the not-for-profit character of your organisation

This grant opportunity supports action to grow the mental health and suicide prevention peer workforce by supporting 500 training placements for lived experience (peer) worker students.

The current Australian Qualifications Framework qualification available to peer workers is the Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work, which must be delivered and assessed through Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) such as TAFEs. To achieve this qualification, students must complete at least 80 hours of work, typically undertaken through a placement.

Multiple challenges have been identified for students to complete these placements, including a shortage of quality placement opportunities and adequately trained staff to supervise. This grant opportunity seeks to address this issue by supporting mental health and suicide prevention services to provide placements and appropriate supervision to students.

The objectives of the grant opportunity are to:

  • facilitate better access to training placements across a range of mental health and suicide prevention service settings for students undertaking the Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work 
  • support supervision costs and build organisational readiness to host student placements in the Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work
  • build capacity and diversity of the mental health and suicide prevention peer workforce.

The intended outcomes of the grant opportunity are to:

  • provide increased and improved placement opportunities for peer work students in a range of locations and service settings, including increased access to placements for priority populations and/or areas of greatest need
  • increase the number of students completing the Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work.

To be eligible you must be one of the following entity types:

  • Indigenous Corporation (registered under the Corporations (Aboriginal and /or Torres Strait Islander) Act 2006) 
  • Company  
  • Corporate Commonwealth Entity 
  • Corporate State or Territory Entity  
  • Non-corporate State or Territory Entity  
  • Non-corporate State or Territory Statutory Authority 
  • Cooperative 
  • Incorporated Association 
  • Statutory Entity  
  • Partnership 

If you are applying as a Trustee on behalf of a Trust, the Trustee must have an eligible entity type as listed above.

Applications from consortia are acceptable, providing there is a lead organisation that is solely accountable to the Commonwealth for the delivery of grant activities and is an eligible entity as per the list above. Only the lead organisation can submit the application form and enter into a grant agreement with the Commonwealth.

The objective of the program is to commemorate the service and sacrifice of Australia’s service personnel who served in wars, conflicts and peace operations, including National Service personnel, and their families.

The intended outcome of the program is to provide funding for projects and activities that:

  • promote appreciation and understanding of the experiences of service, and the role of service personnel
  • preserve, add to the sum of knowledge on, or provide access to information about Australia’s wartime heritage.

There are 2 categories of grants available under the program:

1. Community Grants (STS-CG)

Grants up to $10,000 are available for local, community-based projects and activities.

2. Major Grants (STS-MG)

Grants between $10,001 and $150,000 are available for major commemorative projects and activities that are significant from a national, state, territory and/or broader regional perspective.

If your project relates to restoring or changing a memorial or other commemorative artefact, there may be heritage and conservation considerations. Applicants are responsible for ensuring that all local heritage requirements are met. You may like to seek advice from your local council, RSL, the owner of the memorial, or your state or territory government heritage body.

To be eligible, you must be one of the following entity types:

  • Company
  • Cooperative
  • Corporate State or Territory Entity
  • Incorporated Association
  • Indigenous Corporation

The Australian Government is inviting applications through a Targeted Competitive process to apply for funding under the VWG Program.

To be eligible to apply your organisation must be either:

  • an Ex-Service Organisation (ESO) applying in its own right, or as the lead member of a consortium
  • a non-ESO applying as the lead member of a consortium with at least one ESO and
  • be one of the legal entity types as outlined in the Grant Opportunity Guidelines.

The Australian Government has announced a total of up to $3.827 million (GST exclusive) for the VWG Program for the 2025–26 financial year. Applications will be considered under 2 grant streams: Stream A Small Grants (up to a maximum of $50,000 per grant) and Stream B Large Grants (from $50,001 to a maximum of $200,000 per grant). There is no set proportion of the funding allocated per stream.

The objectives of the VWG Program are to:

  • maintain and improve the independence and quality of life of members of the veteran community, by providing funding for activities and projects that sustain or enhance health and social wellbeing
  • deliver activities and projects not already provided by Australian, state, territory or local government funding to the veteran community to build future community capacity
  • expand on existing activities and projects offered to the veteran community in new regions within Australia or in the development of new activities and projects that will be offered in more than one location
  • raise awareness of the important issues faced by the veteran community.

To be eligible to apply the organisation must be either:

  • an ESO applying in its own right, or as the lead member of a consortium
  • a non-ESO applying as the lead member of a consortium with at least one ESO, and
  • one of the following legal entity types:
    • Company
    • Cooperative

In 2026, Australia and Japan will commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Basic Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation (Basic Treaty). The AJF will also mark 50 years since its establishment.

The AJF 50 Anniversary Grant celebrates this significant milestone by supporting events that bring people together to honour the legacy of Australia-Japan relations and foster future-oriented collaboration, innovation and mutual understanding. The grant opportunity aims to reflect on the past 50 years while looking ahead to the next 50 years of cooperation.  It also seeks to amplify the visibility and impact of funded activities through strong communications — encouraging applicants to plan for effective promotion before, during and after their events, and to produce high-quality digital assets that can be used to showcase the Australia-Japan relationship into the future. 

The intended outcomes of the program are:

  • Delivery of impactful and well-promoted events that celebrate the Australia-Japan relationship.
  • Increased public engagement and understanding of the bilateral relationship.
  • Strengthened networks and partnerships between Australian and Japanese stakeholders.
  • Greater involvement of emerging leaders and youth in shaping the future of bilateral cooperation.
  • Visible inclusion of diverse voices and communities in commemorative and forward-looking initiatives.
  • Representation of communities across Australia in the celebration of the 50 anniversary.
  • Creation of digital assets that can be used to promote the activity and contribute to AJF’s broader communications efforts.

The 2025 Partnerships for culturally safe cancer care grant program supports innovative, community-informed approaches to accelerate the delivery of culturally safe, accessible, and responsive cancer care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

The aim of the program is to improve cancer outcomes and experiences for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people through enhancing the delivery of culturally safe care in mainstream cancer services.

The program funds partnerships between mainstream cancer services and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community-controlled organisations to enhance culturally safe and responsive care in cancer services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

Applications are open to mainstream cancer services (public or private) working in partnership with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community-controlled organisations.

Eligibility:

To apply for the grant, applicants must demonstrate a partnership between a mainstream cancer service (lead organisation) and at least one Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community-controlled organisation (partnering organisation).

Eligible organisations include:

Lead organisation

  • Mainstream cancer service (public or private) that support the screening, diagnosis, management, and treatment of people with cancer, their families, and communities.

Partnering organisation/s

  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community-controlled organisations that provide primary and supportive care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and communities.
  • Not-for-profit organisations that support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people affected by cancer.

The lead organisation must fill out the application form.

The Game on for Change – Preventing Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence through Sport (the Program) aims to empower all levels of the sporting sector to play a leading role in the prevention of domestic, family and sexual violence.

The Local Impact (Small) tier offers grants between $15,000 and $75,000 to support small-scale projects delivered at the local level. This tier is designed, but not limited to, projects that make change at the local level, generally working with one club or organisation.

Purpose

  • The Program aims to empower all levels of the sporting sector to play a leading role in the prevention of domestic, family and sexual violence.
  • Through the Program, the Office of Sport is building the capacity and capability of the sector to address the gendered drivers of domestic, family and sexual violence leading to positive change in knowledge, skills, values and behaviours. 

Key Objectives

  • Identifying and scaling up evidence-based prevention initiatives, whilst testing and evaluating new approaches to build the evidence base and foster safe, respectful and inclusive environments.
  • Establishing and/or strengthening partnerships between the sport and primary prevention sectors to build shared capacity, align efforts, and embed prevention practices across sporting environments.
  • Ensuring prevention initiatives in sport are inclusive and responsive to diverse lived experiences, recognising how intersecting identities influence participation, safety and access to support.

This program aims to increase the number of early childhood services across NSW providing access to Aboriginal languages and to support culturally safe and responsive early childhood education and care (ECEC) in NSW. It provides an opportunity for Aboriginal culture and identity to be nurtured in the earliest stage of formal education across NSW. This recognises the importance of cultural identity and the role it plays in children's development and learning outcomes.

The 2026–29 program builds on the success of an initial Ninganah No More (NNM) program. It also incorporates feedback from current providers, families and other stakeholders from a review of the program. The refreshed program aims to close participation gaps and ensure that early learning services are more responsive to the diverse needs of communities. It places a strong emphasis on cultural inclusivity and accessibility, particularly for Aboriginal children. There is a focus on supporting and measuring the delivery of Aboriginal language and culture within early learning environments.

The NNM program has 6 core objectives:

  1. Aboriginal language and culture are present in ECEC programs.
  2. The number of Aboriginal children learning an Aboriginal language is increased.
  3. Aboriginal children remain connected to culture and grow their cultural identity through language.
  4. ECEC services establish and maintain connection with their local Aboriginal community.
  5. Inclusive learning environments for Aboriginal children.
  6. Children in the early years have the opportunity to learn Aboriginal languages.

The SEE Program includes two distinct but complementary streams to support LLND skills training in metropolitan, regional, and remote areas:

Stream 1: LLND skills training delivery to individuals by SEE providers, contracted by the department, including through place-based project delivery.

Stream 2: SEE First Nations - locally tailored, whole of community LLND skills training delivery to First Nations people through place-based grants. SEE First Nations grants will fund First Nations organisations, including Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations (ACCOs), registered training organisations (RTOs), Adult and Community Education (ACE) providers or peak bodies (applying on behalf of their eligible members).

SEE First Nations grants will fund projects that are designed to meet whole of community English LLND skills training needs of First Nations people.

Improving English LLND skills is a stepping stone to improving:

  • individual, family and community wellbeing, and
  • cultural and social outcomes.

SEE First Nations offers two different grant opportunities:

Scoping Grants

Small grants of up to $30,000 (excluding GST) to help eligible organisations to develop a Delivery Grant application.

Delivery Grants

Grants to eligible organisations to deliver English LLND skills training to First Nations people across Australia. The training is to be co-designed with the community/communities in which it will be delivered.

Delivery Grants will typically be for between $350,000 and $1,000,000 (excluding GST) per year over a 2 to 3 year period, for a single site, or up to $3,000,000 (excluding GST) per year for delivery at multiple sites.

This is the major component of SEE First Nations.  

Eligibility:

To be eligible to apply for a Delivery Grant, your organisation must be either a:

  • ACCO
  • First Nations RTO
  • First Nations ACE provider (which may or may not be RTOs)
  • First Nations Community Organisation peak bodies (applying on behalf of their eligible members)
  • and have the legal capacity to enter into a grant agreement with the Commonwealth
  • be affiliated with the community/communities on whose behalf they apply or partnering with an organisation that is. In the case of a peak body this refers to the community affiliation of the member organisation you are applying on behalf of. Community affiliation can be demonstrated by providing evidence such as:
    • annual reports showing us that you have local community involvement at a board/employment level etc.
    • statements of support from community leaders.

AbbVie provide financial support for projects that promote excellence in patient care, support disease awareness and provide education to healthcare professionals. In addition they also provide funding to support charities and their fundraising activities in the community.

AbbVie will ONLY consider requests for financial support for initiatives that include:

  • healthcare education events or initiatives such as conferences, symposia or one-off meetings
  • disease awareness activities
  • production of education materials including print and digital content
  • fundraising activities 
  • donations to charities or not-for-profit organisations.

AbbVie will not fund requests for

  • sporting clubs
  • any profit-making entities - all organisations must be not-for profit or charities
  • equipment that may be used for personal and professional reasons such as mobile phones or laptops
  • funding of start-ups or operating costs of entities
  • staff salaries and benefits
  • Healthcare professional honorariums or travel costs. HCPs must apply directly to AbbVie for support through the individual funding process
  • capital, infrastructure or operating expenses such as office equipment, furniture, or facilities modifications.
  • events that are lavish or associated with sporting or recreational activities such as golf days, football matches or musical events.
  • underwriting a commercial business or generate income for a practice or institution.

The “Whole-Of” Action (Large) tier offers grants between $300,001 and $450,000 to support large-scale projects delivered across an entire sporting code or local government area. This tier is designed, but not limited to, initiatives that either engage multiple groups within multiple clubs or settings or engage a single group across every club within the code’s or organisation’s remit.

Purpose

  • The Program aims to empower all levels of the sporting sector to play a leading role in the prevention of domestic, family and sexual violence.
  • Through the Program, the Office of Sport is building the capacity and capability of the sector to address the gendered drivers of domestic, family and sexual violence leading to positive change in knowledge, skills, values and behaviours. 

Key Objectives
