The Pride Foundation Australia (PFA) is proud to announce their first large grant round for 2024, to a total value of $20,000 with a focus on supporting sexuality, sex and gender diverse (LGBTQIA+) refugees and people seeking asylum in Australia.

Grant applications should be to the value of up to $20,000 over two years (if applicable).

Funding considerations

PFA encourages projects that are led by LGBTQIA+ refugees, people seeking asylum and/or people of colour.

Projects that collaborate between refugee and asylum seeker agencies or groups and LGBTQIA+ agencies or groups are also encouraged. Where an LGBTQIA+ refugee-led group is in partnership with another organisation, PFA encourages equal partnership and co-design.

Projects should aim to support sexuality, sex and gender diverse (LGBTQIA+) people who are refugees or seeking asylum in at least one of the following areas:

  • Improving access to stable housing,
  • Enhancing education and/or workforce participation,
  • Enhancing support for community connection and improving settlement outcomes,
  • Improving health and/or health literacy,
  • Supporting links to LGBTQIA+ services and supports,
  • Enhancing cultural engagement and development,
  • Improving LGBTQIA+ inclusive practice in services.

Types of projects with a duration of up to two years may include any of the following:

  • Community development, or
  • Education and training initiatives, or
  • Health and wellbeing initiatives, or
  • Applied, community-led research with tangible outcomes in the field, or
  • Events including arts and cultural or conferences.

The Small Grants program supports projects proposed by individuals and or organisations and or communities who would otherwise be limited by the constraints of other funding programs. The project needs to directly or indirectly assist, involve and benefit LGBTQIA+ people and promote positive social outcomes and mental health in the community.

The Small Grants Program is open all year round with particular cut off dates throughout the year for assessment purposes. If an Application is received after the cut-off date, they will be assessed in the next round.

  • First round opens 9am AEDT Monday 22 January 2024 and closes on 11:59pm AEDT Monday 15 April 2024
  • Second round opens 9am AEDT Monday 6 May 2024 and closes on 11:59pm AEDT Monday 15 July 2024.
  • Third round opens 9am AEDT Monday 5 August 2024 and closes on 11:59pm AEDT Monday 18 November 2024.
