Getting down to business with the NBN in Tamworth

Regional Development Australia – Northern Inland (RDANI) would like to extend an invitation to small and medium businesses as well as residents to attend a free information session on the NBN in Tamworth. Entitled ‘How the NBN will change the region and Australia’, the timely event will outline in simple, practical terms, what the National Broadband Network will mean to local businesses and residents.

The NBN workshop will take place on Tuesday, 25th October from 10.30am – 12.30pm at Parry House in Peel Street. The information session will be presented by Alun Davies, NBN Project Coordinator for RDANI and a member of the Regional Telecommunications Review Committee. It is a joint initiative, with support and funding from RDANI, the NSW Department of Trade & Investment and the Tamworth Business Chamber.

Executive Officer of Regional Development Australia Northern Inland, Nathan Axelsson, explained why the NBN Information Session for local business operators was organised. “We identified a need to connect with small and medium businesses and tell them what the NBN will mean to them, in terms of the opportunities and benefits for their business.”

“There is a lack of understanding in the community about what the NBN will mean for small and medium sized businesses as well as applications at home. There’s been a lot of information about what the NBN will mean for health, education and research purposes but not necessarily on how the NBN will assist everyday businesses in our community to expand, find new markets or simply increase efficiencies,” Mr Axelsson said.

The Information Session will provide people with access to top NBN expertise. NBN Co Community Relations Adviser Darren Rudd will field questions on the fixed-wireless first-release site in Tamworth and its benefits for local businesses and residents.

Anyone wishing to attend this free information session is required to register by 5pm Friday 21 October, by contacting Rebecca Wright (RDANI) by phone on 6771 2790 or email rdani@rdani.org.au
